Subject: RE: Farm Aid This Weekend From: GospelPicker (inactive) Date: 18 Sep 00 - 11:32 AM Willie is a friend of mine... I have known him for a few years now and he just gets more caring moment by moment... He has been generous to a fault with his time and money and advice... God has certainly blessed Willie and he knows it... Pray that he will continue to be a beacon of love and hope for those in need in this country and this world... Willie has nothing but good in his heart and should be thanked at every opportunity. He genuinely appreciates each and every show of supprt he recieves for his work and his music... He will surely be remembered as one of America's treasures when his time here is over... If you love him, please let him know... He loves us all; that's why he still works so hard. :) GospelPicker |
Subject: RE: Farm Aid This Weekend From: GUEST Date: 18 Sep 00 - 11:16 AM I imagine Badi Assad's music was a little hard to assimilate for those country purists who came to see Willie. It probably expanded a few horizons for the "Whiskey River" fans. Speaking of which, after all her efforts at getting ratings for explicit lyrics, why was Tipper enthusiastically endorsing irresponsible use of alcohol by pounding bongos for Willie's "Whiskey River?" Doesn't she listen to the words? The song is a drunkard's hymn if I ever heard one. Or maybe it was because she thought Frank Zappa was a Republican? |

Subject: RE: Farm Aid This Weekend From: GUEST,marty D Date: 12 Sep 00 - 11:14 PM Considering that the Govt. played hardball with him as far as the money he owed it's amazing that he still puts in this kind of effort. When he dies, I hope his funeral is like the one Jimmie Rodgers had, with a train taking him right across the country so the people could pay their respects. It's hard for me to imagine a more important musician in my lifetime. M |
Subject: RE: Farm Aid This Weekend From: richlmo Date: 12 Sep 00 - 11:05 PM I always watch and mosttimes contribute. There has really been some great music on these shows. When I was a child, in the 50's,a man could make a living and support a family on 60 acres or so. I grew up that way. My grandfather worked from dark til dark, but he was a satisfied man. So sad that that is a time long gone. Long live Willie, Neil and John |
Subject: Farm Aid This Weekend From: Steve Latimer Date: 12 Sep 00 - 01:00 PM Willie Nelson has long been a hero of mine. Not only do I admire his musical integrity, but his personal integrity. Farm Aid is just one of Willie's passions and has done wonders to not only bring the plight of the Farmer to the attention of the general public, but has raised a lot of money to support them. Farm Aid is this Sunday, Sept 17th and will be covered live on CMT. Featured performers include: Willie Nelson Neil Young ('Spaw?) John Mellencamp Barenaked Ladies Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young Alan Jackson Sawyer Brown Pat Green Travis Tritt Arlo Guthrie North Mississippi Allstars Jimmy Sturr Badi Assad Menagerie Greta Gaines Cowboy's Nightmare Chris DiCroce Shannon Curfman Try to tune in and offer your support to a great cause, while hearing some wonderful musicians. |
