Subject: Teddy bears' picnic parody From: Grab Date: 21 Sep 00 - 09:14 AM Just heard a parody of "Teddy bears' picnic" which was brilliant - trouble is, it's not in the DigiTrad. It starts normally, except the last line is "today's the day the teddy bears have their rave-up". Some bits I can remember:- "Rave-up time for teddy bears, The little teddy bears are having a lovely time today. See them grooving to those heavy sounds That only Status Quo know how to play." "If you go down to the woods today, you'd better have stayed away Cos Daddy and Mummy and Baby Bear have found a new game to play. (something, something) where nobody sees, there's Goldilocks tied to a tree, You'd better believe that she's getting more than porridge!" "At 6 o'clock the police are coming to take them all away Because they're naughty little teddy bears." Does anyone know the rest of this? Or who wrote it? I'd really like to learn this one! Grab. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Teddy bears' picnic parody From: Lady McMoo Date: 21 Sep 00 - 10:13 AM Instant thread creep here but on the Teddy Bears' Picnic theme! I seem to remember in the back of my mind that Nic Jones did a guitar soundtrack to a BBC Play (Play for Today series?) back in the 70s. I think the tilt of the play was "Our Day Out" (by Jack Rosenthal?). One of the tracks was definitely a bonzer instrumental version of the Teddy Bears' Picnic. I can still hear in in my mind now. Does anyone else remember that or know if its recorded anywhere? Peace mcmoo |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Teddy bears' picnic parody From: GUEST,Brian Date: 22 Sep 00 - 08:38 AM It's always worth crediting a song whenever possible. The blue clicky link doesn't credit 'The Teddy Bears Rave-up'. My source of it (years ago) believed it was written by Pee-Wee Hunt. Can anybody confirm that? Brian. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Teddy bears' picnic parody From: AndyG Date: 22 Sep 00 - 10:03 AM The only credit I've ever heard given was to Fred Wedlock.
However fairly intensive searching prior to posting the link didn't find any author credit, nor could I confirm what I'd been told.
Sorry.

Subject: Lyr Add: TEDDY BEARS RAVE UP From: Herga Kitty Date: 07 Sep 03 - 04:48 AM Here you are: TEDDY BEARS RAVE UP If you go down in the woods today you better go in disguise. If you go down in the woods today you're sure of a big surprise. 'Cos every bear that ever there was is gathered there for certain because today's the day the Teddy Bears have their Rave Up. There's Angel Bears who've come on their bike dressed in their leather gear. There's gallons of Scrump all green with limps and 'orrible Watney's beer. Yogi downed a pint of it quick, was very promptly 'orribly sick and filled up both of Paddington's new wellies Rave Up time for Teddy Bears. The little Teddy Bears are having a lovely time today. Grooving to those heavy sounds that only Status Quo know how to play. Cresta Bear is freaking out. He's frothing Man, he's blown his little brain. Rupert's spaced, he's on a trip. Winnie the Pooh is doing the strip. They reckon he's on The Game. Now every bear that's ever been good is sure of a treat today, for Mummy and Daddy and Baby bear have found a new game to play. Beneath the leaves where nobody sees there's Goldilocks tied up to a tree. You bet your life she's getting more than porridge. So if you go down in the woods today you better not go alone. It's lovely down in the woods today, but safer to stay at home. 'Cos it's a really kinky scene, a big butch bear is playing the Queen and they don't call him Sugar Puffs for nothing. Rave Up time for Teddy Bears. The little Teddy Bears are having a lovely time today. Groping in the undergrowth, Oh what would Enid Blyton have to say? See them gaily stagger round, collapsing on the ground, they haven't got any cares. At 12 o'clock the coppers are coming to take them all away, 'cos they've been naughty little Teady Bears Note: This was recorded by Fred Wedlock on his album Oldest Swinger in Town, with Chris Newman. I'm not sure whether he wrote it or if it's attributable to someone else. Kitty |
