I told everyone down at Newcomer's Tavern that, before leaving to visit my grandson, I'd be starting a new trivia thread, and this is it.

I believe that most, if not all of us, know that one if not all three versions of The Boys of Wexford in the DT can be played and sung to The Flight of the Earls.

As far as I know, one, and only one, television show used The Flight of the Earls for its opening theme song.

Any guesses on the name of the show?

When I get back I'll let you know if anyone got the answer. If not, I'll give the answer.

That wasn't one of the tunes in the medley used for The Victory Garden, was it? (Probably not - I'm cluching at straws.) Bouncy midi or less bouncy midi in the DT.

Was it "Profiles in Courage", the program, from long ago, based on the book by John F. Kennedy?

You are the only one close to the answer, even if you did state in the form of a question. Yes, it was Profiles In Courage. I don't know that whether that means your close to my age to have remember or watch too much television.

My apologies to all the world wide 'Catters, who felt I might been unfair on this one. However, I had thought that my use of "US" in the thread title indicated the appropriate nationality. I'll try to be more specific if I do something like this again.

This was fun, even if I did come into it too late. What other TV/Music overlaps are there? I can only think of Due South, which usually had one scene with no dialogue and some ballad playing. I know that the episode with "dogbreath" from Hill Street Blues used Henry Martin to great effect...

I am not sure how old you are, Robby, but I remember watching it when it was originally broadcast, nearly 40 years ago (I didn't realize how frightening it would be til I wrote it out) I have an eerie and disturbing propensity to remember odd little bits like that--can't find my keys most of the time, though--

MTed, Let me just say that I can still that eagle soaring across the black & white TV screen in my father's house every time I hear the tune. 'Course I was a lot younger then. Years later, when I heard The Boys Of Wexford, it took some time to figure out why I kept visualizing an eagle in flight.

By any chance are you close to Pittsburgh, PA?
