Subject: Australian Mudcatters! From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 21 Sep 00 - 08:23 PM A couple of friends of mine, Ron and Jenny Day, are off to Australia in a few weeks for an extended stay, initially in Melbourne where their daughter lives. They're planning to travel around, too, and would like to make some contacts in the Australian folk scene. They're involved in all sorts of things, including Border Morris, Clogging, Irish Set and singing generally, and are hoping to get to sessions, folkclubs and the like in the places they visit. If anyone over there could help them out with information, it would be very much appreciated; they're nice people, and I'm sure you'd enjoy meeting them. I'll be keeping this thread active for a while, as I realise that a lot of you aren't around here much at present because of the Olympics.
Thanks to all, Malcolm |

Subject: RE: Australian Mudcatters! From: GUEST,murray@mpce.mq.edu.au Date: 27 Sep 00 - 03:32 AM There is a folk club in Blackheath which is on top of the Blue Mountains of New South Wales. The Blue Mountains are certainly worth visiting. They meet on the first Thursday of every month and informally every Sunday. All meetings are at the Ivanhoe Hotel (which also provides cheap accomodation). As other people have offered, send me a private email to get my address and 'phone number up there. |

Some of these regular activities go to the wall over Christmas/January when the Woodford Festival is on. I'll help as much as possible. Regards, John |
