Hi Everyone.

Would anyone have the tune, abc, or midi for the 'The flower of Magherally-O' i've heard it played once recently on the flute and it is a lovely tune.

Thanks for your time.

Welcome back Alison - glad you had a great holiday.

Mike

Hi, Mike:

At CCE Carrigdhoun you will find the relevant page from Sean O Boyle's "The Irish Song Tradition", with the music and lyrics.

Lovely song. I've got Cathal McConnell on tape singing it, but not sure if he's made a commercial recording.

I think Cathal McConnel sings it on one of Boys of the Lough albums. You can also find "The flower of Magherally" on "The red crow",Altan and "Blackbirds and Trushes", Niamh Parsons.

And it's published in "Music and Song from The Boys of the Lough". Edinburgh: Gilderoy Music, 1977

Is the tune in the DT the same one that Niamh Parsons, Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh (Altan) and Cathal McConnell (Boys of the Lough) sing?
I don't have audio, and I notice the DT has links to Star of the County Down threads but maybe that's because of the "Banbridge town" connection rather than the air (which is different)
