Be silent and upstanding for the sad death of Donald Dewar, the First Minister of Scotland who died today. A rare politician of wit and intellect who passionately believed in devolution and who brought about the formation of the first Scottish Parliament of the modern age. I hope there are songwriters in Scotland who can witness his achievements in song.
