Subject: RE: What would you tell a reporter about Mudcat From: Airto Date: 13 Oct 00 - 07:39 AM I came in search of a song, which I found, and stayed for the scholarship, the debate, the repartee, the lunatic serendipity (threads on probability theory, burma shave, household tips) and the friendliness of the place. I've been lucky to be here. Arthur O'Malley, Brussels |
Subject: RE: What would you tell a reporter about Mudcat From: mike putt Date: 13 Oct 00 - 08:56 AM I literally stumbled on to The Mudcat about 12 or 14 months ago whilst searching for a song and decided to test it by looking for an old song that my Father-in-law used to sing " The old leather britch's" Lo and behold it was no problem, I had the song the next day. I used the handle Sajumikey in the beginning as I was'nt sure wether the site was full of fruitcakes etc. I now use my own name, check the mudcat before my mail, and if any mudcatter's are in the limerick Ireland area and would like to get together and jam, swop songs or just have the craic mail me on mikeputt@iol.ie or mike_putt@dell.com Its an incredible site and I am gradually turning more and more of my friends and workmates onto it. Thanks to everyone |
Subject: RE: What would you tell a reporter about Mudcat From: Escamillo Date: 14 Oct 00 - 05:06 AM I would repeat the definition I posted in another thread: "I'm here because it is very good business. Where else in the world you could contribute a little thing you may know, a little emotion you may feel, and come out with LOTS of knowledge, encouragement and friendship ? " My gratitude to all Mudcatters and to Max for creating and maintaining this place. Un abrazo Andrés Magré Nogoya 5082 D1 1417 Buenos Aires, Argentina |
Subject: RE: What would you tell a reporter about Mudcat From: The Shambles Date: 14 Oct 00 - 06:13 AM Well in answer to the question, I would tell them nothing. My experience of reporters are that that they mostly make it up and what they do use, they get wriong anyway.
Hopefully they will actually READ this thread and the others linked. If they do that, I feel that it will be pretty obvious how rare and special the Mudcat is and how difficult it is to accuratly describe the rare and special. Maybe they will go and write a song or a poem, instead. |
