I've changed it to decade rather than week, so I hope that lessens the offense just a little. But this person really deserves it. (Plus it's nice to be able to tell some good news now and then.) My friend, Don, who lives next door to me (not a Mudcatter, but definitely in danger of being nominated for Sainthood), called me on the phone today. He said, "go downstairs and look outside your door". He said it was my Christmas and birthday present. My friends, this may not mean very much to most of you, but some of you will know what an earthshaking moment I experienced when I discovered what awaited me on my doorstep. It was lady's sized Italian accordion! I've been playing a full sized German box, and I'm telling you, the difference is something that cannot be described. I thought it would be years before I would be able to get my hands on an Italian box. So here's to my good friend and neighbor,

It's probably going to need new valves and a re-wax. BUT! Inside of that instrument lives the most beautiful music....I almost don't even have to do anything at all except sit behind it and whisper "I love you" to it, over and over, and it practically plays itself! While I'm at this, I would like to include one more person in my Snog of the Decade. I want to thank Skipjack K8 for being my on-line accordion teacher for the past two months. If it weren't for Skipjack, I might not even know about Italian boxes. When I first joined the Mudcat, I was a frustrated beginner with a big old German box that I didn't know what to do with. Under Skipjack's tutelage, my playing has improved dramatically. I'm still a beginner, but I'm no longer frustrated. I am now able to experience the true joy of playing this instrument.
