Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Bobby watts the girl you left From: Mooh Date: 28 Oct 00 - 10:28 AM Can't help you with the song, I'm sorry, but Bobby Watt is a big generous spirit who has been a friend of the Goderich Celtic Roots Festival since his first visit here to perform. A talented stone mason, he installed a new back door in our bandstand one year, I think at his own expense, and he has MC'd also. He likes to promote singer's rights at sessions, and he's got some recordings which have sold well around here. He'll join you for a beer too. Peace. Mooh. |
Subject: Lyr Add: THE GIRL I LEFT BEHIND (Bobby Watt) From: Clinton Hammond2 Date: 28 Oct 00 - 07:42 PM The song is called The Girl I Left Behind... Bobby co-wote it with Holmes Hooke who wrote the lyrics... It's off Bobbys album Homeland... I get a lot of miles out of a few songs ... It's a great song in DADGAD... goes mostly just back and forth from D to G.. with the exception of The girl I Left Behind is D, A, D... The Girl I Left Behind
Sure I was never one to write was always on the move
The church clock struck the morning hour as I arrived in town
We looked a long time at each other both afraid to speak
we sat down on an old stone bench in the fragile autumn sun
As we watched the sun go down she prepared to leave
In the shadow of a streetlight we silently embraced Have you noticed a sudden increase in Lyric requests of songs that I know and play a lot of late?? LOL!! {~` |
