Subject: RE: Warning: Boring Thread Alert!! From: MMario Date: 03 Nov 00 - 04:19 PM teal. but not the ucky greenish teal that is so commercially available, but the richer, more bluish-emerald-greenish-turquoise-ish teal more like what you actually see ON a teal. |
Subject: RE: Warning: Boring Thread Alert!! From: Eric the Viking Date: 03 Nov 00 - 04:21 PM Sunshine yellow and Malachite green (Southern railway colours) Purple and yellow, but the wife won't let me wear them or paint the house in them. Cheers. Eric |

Subject: RE: Warning: Boring Thread Alert!! From: MMario Date: 03 Nov 00 - 04:26 PM Mousethief - sometime I frighten you. Or is that the other way around? |
Subject: RE: Warning: Boring Thread Alert!! From: P05139 Date: 03 Nov 00 - 04:26 PM GUEST, no I don't cos I've left school and I'm up to date with all my college work. |

Subject: RE: Warning: Boring Thread Alert!! From: annamill Date: 03 Nov 00 - 04:44 PM Firecat, your right! MMario, what's a teal? I think that's my favorite color too. That's what color my van is anyway. Love, annamill |
Subject: RE: Warning: Boring Thread Alert!! From: MMario Date: 03 Nov 00 - 04:50 PM a teal is sorta like a duck. see this picture which doesn't do it justice at all and is the wrong colour to boot. |
Subject: RE: Warning: Boring Thread Alert!! From: mousethief Date: 03 Nov 00 - 04:51 PM I was very happy when the "southwest colours" came into vogue about 10 years ago. Teal, terra cotta, and such. Then they went back out of vogue again and I was less happy.

Subject: RE: Warning: Boring Thread Alert!! From: SINSULL Date: 03 Nov 00 - 05:09 PM Pagoda Red - bright red-orange like Chinese enamel. In a fit of temper, I painted my bedroom with it. I will never have anything but a Pagoda Red bedroom as long as I live. |
Subject: RE: Warning: Boring Thread Alert!! From: annamill Date: 03 Nov 00 - 05:12 PM Thank you, MM, at last I know it's a duck. MT, I'm aware of the southwest colours( love the sp) and when I move to San Diego (La Jolla) inna couple of years, I'm doing my whole life in those colours. Now I know what teal is. It's that beautiful delicate bluish-greenish color that is always matched with terra- cotta and lightish pink that you associate with the southwest. I'm tired! I think I'll go home now! Love, annamill |
Subject: RE: Warning: Boring Thread Alert!! From: guinnesschik Date: 03 Nov 00 - 05:17 PM Aubergine and emerald, ruby and silver, black and blue. Anything that's dark and bright at the same time. Firecat, I think it's a fun thread. ;-)g'chik |
Subject: RE: Warning: Boring Thread Alert!! From: GUEST Date: 03 Nov 00 - 05:18 PM All of them - but I'm color-blind. |
Subject: RE: Warning: Boring Thread Alert!! From: annamill Date: 03 Nov 00 - 05:20 PM SINSULL, I read somewhere..actually serveral somewheres that you should never have RED in your bedroom because it is such an angry colour. It should be a soothing colour like light blue or green. Red supposedly causes relationships to go bad, causing arguments and such. I'm just telling you what I read. That's why they've painted hospitals these colours. To sooth. I'm going home to my soothing water and fireplace. Love, annamill |
Subject: RE: Warning: Boring Thread Alert!! From: Burke Date: 03 Nov 00 - 05:29 PM I'm a teal lover as well. Also purple, mauve, dark rose to cranberry, raspberry, not necessarily together :-) |
Subject: RE: Warning: Boring Thread Alert!! From: Tig Date: 03 Nov 00 - 05:30 PM Is this what you get up to when we leave you home alone? Healer blue of course, plus harper blue next to it. |
Subject: RE: Warning: Boring Thread Alert!! From: annamill Date: 03 Nov 00 - 05:39 PM Yes, Firecat, this is fun. I was teasing. Shoulda put a smily face. Love, annamill |
Subject: RE: Warning: Boring Thread Alert!! From: Troll Date: 03 Nov 00 - 06:49 PM Green. But NOT that "institutional green" that they seem to paint the hallways of govt. buildings. A nice Hunter green or British Racing green. Or granite-grey like the walls of my cave. troll |
Subject: RE: Warning: Boring Thread Alert!! From: CarolC Date: 03 Nov 00 - 07:55 PM Firecat, Have you read the Lord of the Rings trilogy? I've always wanted to be able to create something that would look like the robe that was mostly white, but that subtly changed colors when the robe moved and shifted. I can't remember if Gandalf wore it, or if it was Sarumen. I've been a weaver for almost twenty years, and I've been puzzling over that one for almost that long, but I've never gotten anywhere close to the results I wanted. That's my favorite color. Carol

Subject: RE: Warning: Boring Thread Alert!! From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 03 Nov 00 - 08:31 PM I thought there should be some songs in here:
The Red Flag
I missed out Indigo, because I'm never too sure what it look like, and I don't know a song for it. (Mood Indigo doesn't count, unless it's got words I've never heard.)

Subject: RE: Warning: Boring Thread Alert!! From: P05139 Date: 03 Nov 00 - 09:05 PM I'm not complaining but I think this is turning in to a Mudcat Technicolour Dreamcoat, you know the one "It was scarlet and black and ochre and peach and ruby and olive and violet and fawn and cream and crimson and silver and rose and azure and lemon and russet and grey and purple and white and pink and orange and blue!!" (Andrew Lloyd Webber/ Tim Rice in "Joseph And His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat" |

Subject: RE: Warning: Boring Thread Alert!! From: Benjamin Date: 03 Nov 00 - 09:22 PM A slightly dark (but not too dark) shade of blue and green. Like that shade of green on Al Green's Greatest Gospel Hits. |

Subject: RE: Warning: Boring Thread Alert!! From: P05139 Date: 15 Nov 00 - 07:16 AM I know it's been ages since I looked at this thread, but I'm glad people like it. CarolC, no I haven't read Lord Of The Rings, but my midle name (Arwen) comes from it. I think she's an elf or summat, isn't she? This rainbow's gonna be v.v.v.v.v.v.v. pretty, I think. Thanks to all of you who answered. I'll put your names in it!! |
Subject: RE: Warning: Boring Thread Alert!! From: mkebenn Date: 15 Nov 00 - 07:34 AM Firecat, Arwen Evenstar, Queen of the west, and desended from the Eldar. As for me, blues for music and clothing, white for jeeps. Mike Bennett |
Subject: RE: Warning: Boring Thread Alert!! From: CarolC Date: 15 Nov 00 - 08:07 AM Hi Firecat. Yes, she's an elf from Rivendell. As mkebenn said, an elfqueen. Those are good books. You might enjoy them. I'd read The Hobbit first, though, if you haven't already. I'm looking foreward to hearing about how you do my color. (grin) Carol |
Subject: RE: Warning: Boring Thread Alert!! From: GUEST,Fibula Mattock Date: 15 Nov 00 - 08:36 AM Green, because the human eye can identify more shades of green than any other colour, and there's so much of it in nature. Blue, like the sea on a stormy day - grey-blue and wild. Red, especially Pompeii red (the Pompeii frescoes have this amazing, unique colour that has not been recreated to the same intensity by modern means). Put 'em together and you've got RGB - the most common method of defining and rendering colour in computer graphics, and the topic I'll be working on for the next 3 years. Colour is amazing. |
Subject: RE: Warning: Boring Thread Alert!! From: Mooh Date: 15 Nov 00 - 09:46 AM The colours of nature I like best, greens, browns, blues, even black. Autumn trees. The water of Georgian Bay turns from black to brilliant blue depending on the weather. And burgundy-ish purple-ish sorts of things... Peace. Mooh. |
