Hi folks, I am once again setting up a round robin to increase the speed and reliability of the Mudcat. 3 machines are now responding to www.mudcat.org. You can spot which machine is doing what at the bottom of the threads list. You will see SHORTY, LOKI, or RAGTIME down there. This is a temporary solution until the new version of the Mudcat is done which is slated for the beginning of the new year. There may be some errors here or there, so let me know what they are and which machine you think its from. One of the drawbacks of round robins is that it's very hard to tell which machine is in error. Anyhow, you will also notice that some of the features run exlusively through shorty.mudcat.org, this is the temporary solution to keep the auction, radio and resources the same no matter what machine you end up on. Currently those three features are only able to work on Shorty. An upgrade to SQL server will do the trick which will be part of the next major upgrade. Wish me luck... I just found an error while writing this note...

Max - you and your elves work wonders. Maybe someday you can retire and then take up a simple and less time consuming hobby - such as being santa clause. *grin*

Max, on Shorty, when I clicked on one of the thread titles, I got the windows error pop-up message:

Unknown status reply from server: 0!

I click OK and then get the message:

The document contained no data. Try again later, or contact the server's administrator.

Most of the threads gave this message. If you clicked the same thread a second time, you could get into the thread.

Hope this helps

Alex

Just an FYI, chances are if you close your browser, reload it and try connecting to the Mudcat again, you will get a different machine, thereby very possibly bypassing the particular error or delay you are experiencing. This should hold true in the extended future of the Mudcat as well.

Go Max! Max rules! Max the ruler of the elves and the Mudcat.

I don't know what all the fuss is about in Florida. I wrote in Max's name on my ballot. I figured as President of the USA he would find enough funding to be able to relax and jam with the other world leaders. Between sessions they could work out the world's problems and leave us living in a realized utopia.

After running Mudcat the Free World should be a snap!

Apparently I got about 300 or so votes in Florida.

Oh, I also fixed the healing thread program. The system now heals 27% faster.

Thanks, Max, that sounds great!

Rather than closing your browser, you can also bookmark the 3 different ones, or have them up in your address bar, from going to them before, and just click on the appropriate one to access them easily and quickly. Whenever one of them kicks up that is what I do.

Naemanson,
Been invited to the New Scottish Parliament's inaugural meeting of its "Cross-party working group on Traditional Music" . They've decided NOT to be an official Parliament/Working Committee, so they don't have to take notes, have secretaries, chairs, etc. and so they can cease blethering any time they want and switch to a session!!!!!
Typically, the first meet is in The Castle Bar, Johnston Terrace, Edinburgh on 6th Dec at 6.30 pm!
New politics Rules!
Rob

Great Rob! The new politics will quickly supersede the old stuffy suit and coat type. Meetings must be held in a pub or bar over one's favorite brew. Disagrements must be settled outside. After that both participants can come back in for a free beer and a laugh at the black eye and split lip.

Max, I wish you luck because I think you'll need it. Being a (so-called) webmaster myself and having surfed in some excessive manner during the last months let me tell you that your work here is some really good example for good work. I think you're at least among the 5% of best websites I know. Technically spoken, i.e. in terms of usefulness, reliability, speed and conformity with not so well-equipped participants. You're better than most of the rest (in my eyes which are absolutely not impressed by graphical etc splendour which simply can't be loaded - big thanks for this).

So if errors or problems occur - remember that they are BETTER errors or problems than most of the rest.

{{{HUG!}}} - technically spoken.

Joerg

OK Max, good luck to you! Not that I think you need luck, as I feel that the design of this site demonstrates a lot of thought and planning. I look forward to seeing the enhancements in the New Year,

Jon

Shingle by shingle, I'm patching up the roof
Row by row, I'm bringin' in the crop.
Love makes a change, I'm livin' the proof...
New water's in the well and I'm grateful,
for....
Every drop.

(from Eric Bibb CD, reminds me of you, Max)

You have that CD yet Max? You got enough good tunes to work by?

Max, I really appreciate your efforts in keeping the Mudcat going. You deserve praise.

As for some of the comments here, I don't see the problem. Quite a few threads contain no data. The computer is merely being literal, which is just what they are designed to be.
