Subject: Free Reed Records - Warning From: Mick Lowe Date: 17 Nov 00 - 01:41 PM This is a warning for anyone contemplating sending off for material from Free Reed Records. Several months ago I recommended this outfit to a friend of mine looking for some out of print records. Having sent their money off and waited and waited, nothing much happened. So telephone calls were made, during which it transpired the merchandise advertised on their website was in fact no longer in stock. They offered a replacement which wasn't what my friend really wanted and was less in value to the original order. Thinking to make the best of a bad job, the replacement offer was accepted and the wait begun afresh... Now some 4 months later my friend is still waiting and to add insult to injury, Free Reed are still advertising stock they don't have and will probably never have... So if you are thinking about buying from them... BE WARNED... Mick |
Subject: RE: Free Reed Records - Warning From: Jim Krause Date: 17 Nov 00 - 01:54 PM Thanks. Good thing I never heard of 'em. I guess Reed makes pretty free with other folks' money, hence the name, right? Soddy |

Subject: RE: Free Reed Records - Warning From: Rick Fielding Date: 17 Nov 00 - 10:56 PM Checked their website, and they sure seem open for business. Can someone contact them with a Mudcat URL and ask them to give their side of the story. They'll either ignore it, or it might shake them out of their lethergy. We have a BIT of clout here I'd think. Subject: RE: Free Reed Records - Warning From: dick greenhaus Date: 18 Nov 00 - 02:11 AM Or save some effort and let Camsco do the work for you. Mudcat gets a piece of the action and prices are lower than if you go directly to Free Reed |
Subject: RE: Free Reed Records - Warning From: Abby Sale Date: 18 Nov 00 - 12:31 PM My experience: I got the great Bellamy set from Camsco and the price, I'll add, is shown as significantly less than several online stores. The notes in it warn that the 3rd CD, with all the graphics & ram's might not work on my computer - if not I should write them and they'll send an audio-only replacement. I didn't work, in fact, and really I should have complained to Dick but I opted to complain via e-mail to Free Reed. They replaced it instantly by air mail (eliminating any profit they might have made on me but doing the Right Thing.) Can't do better than that! Only complaint I have is that I can't stop playing the CDs (3 1/2 hours of brilliant Bellamy). It's certainly a shame you had the trouble & that happens & I believe you. Maybe there's another Free Reed this is being confused with - I don't know - but this one does remastered & finely produced Bellamy & Dransfield & what else do you want? Camsco guarantees too. |
