Subject: Open Jam Sessions
From: dusterjim@hotmail.com

I've been so busy since late spring that I haven't been to this site in months, so I took the time to look back over the past few months worth of threads. I found one for July 10th that had 144 hits (wow), so I had to check it out. It was great, an online jam session. What I would like to do is post some jam sessions in my area so that if you are in the area you can attend them. In turn, if there is a jam in your area, post it for others. I have had people ask me if I know of any open jams in their area. These are open jams, accoustic in nature, playing folk, country, bluegrass, ect., anyone is welcome to sit in and take their turn as it comes around.

jam #1. Guthrie Park, south of Dallas Ore. every Friday night at 7:30 #2. Guthrie Park, south of Dallas Ore. every third Saturday of the month 7:00 P.M. (gospel jam) #3. ZCBJ hall, Scio Ore. every 2nd & 4th Friday of the month 7:30 P.M. #4. Old Town Deli, Corvallis Ore. every saturday night 7:30 P.M. #5. Union Street Pizza, Salem Ore. every Sunday 5:30 P.M.

There are a couple more that I know of, but I need to get more details. If you should need detailed directions, Email me where you are coming from and I'll get you there.

Duster, Cool idea. We have jams in Orlando, Fla. every monday-soon-to-be-sunday night. Swing time jazz, but a couple of us are folkies at heart. The jams are happening at a home, but if anyone is interested in getting something together you can email...Cathub@bellsouth.net

Frank.

Sounds like a good idea, but I expect it would get to unwieldy to be useful if all the jams in the country are listed here. Perhaps they could be listed by area, or even on another list. (Thought you were in my area until I saw that your Dallas was in Oregon. There are several jamming opportunities in the Denton, Texas area. E-mail me if you're interested.

There is a sessions list in the usnet 'rec. music celtic', last posted 8/18. Rich has quite a list, broken down by location. You can also post a new listing to him. He posts often & to dupliate his labor here or elsewhere would be a feat most would not attempt. Barry Finn

Evelyn, when you posted, this popped right up to the top. Barry's suggestion is still a good one, and I could copy the stuff from the listing (last posted 3/12/00) and e-mail it to you if you can't get newsgroups.

It would help if we knew whether you were going to NY City, or somewhere else in the state.

In the Phoenix, AZ metro area, there are two major seisiuns (yes, the spelling is intentional)

every Wednesday @ The Bandersnatch, 5th St/Forest, Tempe

every Sunday @ The Dubliner, 40th St/Thunderbird, Phoenix

both these seisiuns start about 9pm & run until closing (sometimes later!!!)

more info and location maps can be found on our website:
