Subject: Story for today: Nov 24 From: Steve Parkes Date: 24 Nov 00 - 03:41 AM THIS, O my Best Beloved, is a story--a new and a wonderful story--a story quite different from the other stories--a story about The Most Wise Sovereign Suleiman-bin-Daoud -- Solomon the Son of David. There are three hundred and fifty-five stories about Suleiman- bin-Daoud; but this is not one of them. Now, pay attention once again! One day Suleiman-bin-Daoud went into the wilderness. After many days and many nights wandering in solitude, a Mighty Wonder caught his eye from a great distance. He approached the Mighty Wonder until at last he came next to ti and bent to pick it up. "Allah akhbar!" cried Suleiman-bin-Daoud. It was a cricket ball. Suleiman-bin-Daoud continued through the wilderness for another day and night, when his eye was caught by another Mighty Wonder at a great distance. He approached the Mighty wonder once again, and once again bent to pick it up. "Allah ed din!" cried Suleiman-bin-Daoud. It was another cricket ball. The Great and Wise Suleiman-bin-Daoud wandered many more days in the wilderness, but saw no more Wonders until, on his last day in the wilderness, as he was making his way back to his Queen, the Beautiful and Wise Balkis, he saw a third Mighty Wonder at a great distance. Approaching it with Awe and Reverence, Suleiman-bin-Daoud cried "Well, stone me!". It was a castrated cricket. "Insha'Allah!", sighed Suleiman-bin-Daoud. |

Subject: RE: BS: Story for today: Nov 24 From: Steve Parkes Date: 24 Nov 00 - 05:38 AM It's actually one of Rudyard Kipling's "Just So" stories, Aux. For some reason, the publishers rejected it. Steve |
Subject: RE: BS: Story for today: Nov 24 From: Auxiris Date: 24 Nov 00 - 05:54 AM I can't imagine why. . . LOL! Well, then again, there are publishers in all the different fields of publishing (music, prose, poetry and so forth) who have been trying to muzzle creative folks for some time now, eh? cheers, Aux
