I don't know if it's just me or if everyone else is having the same problems. The only way I can get into Mudcat these days is to use loki. That get's me in but won't allow me to go to any of the quick links ie resourse pages, messages since your last visit, personal pages etc.

It's becoming a real pain. I submitted some photo's of the headshave event to Pene, for the resourse pages, around 2 weeks ago and can't check to see if they have been posted yet.

Can anyone give me any ideas as to how to access these pages PLEASE>

Bugsy, everyone has been having problems and Max is on vacation. Jeri put in a link for personal page access in a thread of titled "personal messages."

When loki jumps to a link, it automatically goes back to the non-fucntioning mudcat/shorty. If you go up to the addy which isn't right, when you click to resources or your personal page and replace the www with loki, I think that it will work for you.

It's not just you, bugs. loki is the only server for Mudcat on line just now, and most of the other pages are on shorty. There is a link to the loki personal pages on eht help forum, posted by Jon Freeman that will get you into your personal pages, but it is is a pain in the butt to do that.

What are we going to do if loki goes down too? BTW, bugs, did you get my contribution yet? I sent it snail mail in AUS dollars cash, about 3 weeks ago..........

Sorcha, Littlefolk got 3or4 donations from USA,(read MUDCAT), unfortunately, I did not get to see them but can check for you if you wish. I was told of them as they arrived but did not know the names as I only know everyone by their mudcat nickname.

The resources one is a little more complicated as loki points to http://loki.mudcat.org/link.cfm?url=http%3A%2F%2Fshorty.mudcat.org%2Fphotos.

This is pointing to link.cfm and asking some form of query. Changing "shorty" into "loki" yields what I would have guessed the loki version of the resources page is i.e. http://loki.mudcat.org/photos but this provides a page not found error.

It could be that the resources pages do not exist on loki or that this URL is wrong - does anyone have a bookmarked version of the Resources URL (even if it says www)?

Just found the answer to the resources in /thread.CFM?threadID=27770. To quote from Max:

"...Anyhow, you will also notice that some of the features run exlusively through shorty.mudcat.org, this is the temporary solution to keep the auction, radio and resources the same no matter what machine you end up on. Currently those three features are only able to work on Shorty..."

I only found out about loki anmd shorty and ragtime long after I'd been coming to teh Mudcat for ages. I'm sure there msut be hordes of 'catters who haven't any idea about all this stuff, and are shut out in the real world, assuming that the whole operation has gone pearshaped.

Maybe once this is sorted out it might be possible to have a mass email to people putting them in the picture. If so it would be a very good idea.

I've bookmarked all the connections, together with the "help and advice" URL and the songbook. But at present I'm unable to get anything but "Connection refused" on the Digital Tradition button, which is serious.

Suggestion: bookmark/add to favorites the Help Forum so you can get there without clicking on the link above. I posted links to the three different servers there, and Jon Freeman posted a link to the personal pages. You could also bookmark the three differents servers.

Right now, I think the only people who can get into Mudcat are those that have been around for a while and can manage to get into either the Help Forum or Loki. It may be peaceful, but we're missing questions about music, I think.

Yup, there's some weird problem with Shorty. He appears to be working alright, he's not thrashing and there's plenty of memory but you just can't get into Mudcat. If you reboot him everything appears the same but Mudcat starts working again.

Well right now "shorty" is back, as well as "loki" - but "ragtime" is refusing to allow us in. But the most important thing is that the "random" connection seems to be working again.

So if that keeps up we can expect the crowds back in. But there may be some people who have decided that the Mudcat must have sunk to the bottom and never come up, and they're wandering round in a daze trying to drown their sorrows.

Whew, I thought for a long while that I was being excommunicated for foolin' with my thread seeking lyric help. It was only temporary insanity I assure you. Makes me fell a lot better knowing that I'm not alone with these difficulties trying to access the site. I'm having all my favorites bookmarks to the site telling me there are errors and sending me to an impossible to get through page. I just keep getting looped back to this page over and over again. Glad to be back in the fold.
