Has anyone seen or tried one of these. moonjen mentioned it in another thread.

I'm particularly interested in the size and the fact that it's a 12-fret. Would fit my style nicely, though it would have to be kept in the 'parlor'. No bluegrass combo work, for sure.

Elderly has it for $385 (mahogany) and $490 (koa), plus intermediate prices for other woods. Mighty tempting, though I've yet to try one.

wow - we've had a few threads on this, so check through the database, BUT; I love my Larriveee Parlor guitar. I have mahgogany, but I must admit I love the sound of the Koa guitar as well.

This is simply an impressive guitar! It's hard to believe all that sound somes out of that tiny body. It'll fit in the airplane overhead, and it it'll amaze everyone with its sound. Great guitar!

By the way - ya need to look at the reviews on Harmony Central as well. Then check Ebay.com - maybe a good price there, but the Elderly costs sound quite good, and you get the support of a great company if you buy from them.

Best of the lot in my opinion. AND it's fits in the overhead.

I bought a Larrivee Parlor guitar earlier this year and it's turned out to be my favorite. The original intent was to have a small guitar that wouldn't take up too much space on the sailboat. However, although there are several other guitars around the house but the one I pick up most often is the Larrivee.

I tried several Larrivee's at Elderly Instruments and they all sound great. At least to my ears I think the Koa had a somewhat better sound (the koa wood is also very beautiful to look at). It's hard to imagine the tone and volume they get out of such a small guitar.

MNy brother has a Larivee Mahagony. I compared it to my Martion 0-16 and found them equals in all ways. Except the larivee is about $1000.00 cheaper.

It makes the Baby Taylor sound like it was made out of a dirty diaper. I sold my BT but look forward to getting a Larrivee. I thought the new inexpensive Larrivee OM's were excellent also. Great guitars for the price. It won't replace my Martins but then again I wouldn't take the Martins on a camping trip or to the beach.

If anyone is interested, I know of someone who is selling their Mahogany Larrivee Parlor for $285 w/gigbag and postage. He used it when he traveled; doesn't travel anymore; wants to put the money towards a fullsize guitar.

If you're interested, please PM me, with your email address, and I will put the two of you in touch.

BTW ... I agree with all the above comments.

It also has a "real guitar" look--even elegant, as opposed to so many scaled down guitars that take on a toy guitar look.

Can one of you who own a Larrivee Parlor Guitar tell me what its length and lower bout width is when in the gigbag.

If there is a Larrivee website where I can find that info can you give me its URL.

Thanks,

Murray

Murray there is a website.. Larrivee online and they have a phone number which is for their Aussie dealer.. who is in Ultimo Sydney... I spoke with him a year ago... and at that stage he wasn't intending to bring the parlour guitars into Oz.. because he didn't think they'd sell..... he may have changed his mind since then....

I rang him after a few shops had told me that they wouldn't sell Larrivees because the glue fell to bits in Aussie temperatures....... the dealer reckoned it wouldn't be a problem...........

Thanks Alison. Two dealers I know have told me that they had problems with Larrivee guitars and wouldn't sell them any more. I am going to visit my family in the US and I thought if it was small enough to get on the 'plane, I would buy myself one there. After all Blackheath climate is less like "Australian climate" than other places.
