Subject: Lord of the Dance From: GUEST,Carl Date: 05 Dec 00 - 01:05 PM Is it true that there are still no lyrics for this tune? I did not find anything in the digitrad nor by forum search. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Lord of the Dance From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 05 Dec 00 - 01:18 PM You won't find it in the DT because it got removed at the request of the representatives of Sydney Carter, who wrote it (using a Shaker tune, as he has always been the first to point out).
This was to do with a case against Michael Flatley - I think they may have thought that having it here played into his claim that it was traditional so he didn't have to pay any royalties for trivialising it. But here is a link with the words and the tune, and lots of information about it from the people who publish it. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Lord of the Dance ^^ From: Penny S. Date: 06 Dec 00 - 03:41 PM Sydney Carter appeared on the TV last night, in a program about Rabbi Lionel Blue. The Rabbi visited Sydney Carter at the Maudsley Hospital in South London, where he is being cared for as he has Alzheimer's. He came along the corridor singing "One more step along the world I go" (The theme of the program), and the two men sang together, and chatted briefly, before Sydney went off singing still. Lionel Blue said that Sydney seemed young again. I didn't take it all in, apart from the sorrow of it, because I was somewhat distracted at the time, but I have a video which I will watch again. He did seem to know Rabbi Blue, and to know his music, which is good. Penny |
