Subject: I come from (F)Llandudno... From: GUEST,Doug Date: 06 Dec 00 - 04:25 PM My grandfather would begin to sing a song and grandma would cut him off, presumably because it was not "proper". It went: I come from Llandudno across the Welsh mountains Where the leeks and the violets and the nannygoats dwell I come here in search of a lovely young damsel To you I'll describe her for I know her so well. Later there's the phrase "with a cap on her head." Can anyone give me leads to the song or the rest of the words? Doug |

Subject: RE: I come from (F)Llandudno... From: sian, west wales Date: 08 Dec 00 - 05:22 AM I'd put money on the tune either being Llwyn Onn(The Ash Grove) or Jenny Jones. but I've never heard the words either. Someone was obviously aware of the tune(s), though, to have written those particular words. sian |
