This week on Folk Roots/Folk Branches we'll also have an in-studio visit with DAVID FRANCEY.

Reviewing David's CD, "Torn Screen Door," in Sing Out! Magazine, Rich Warren said:

"It was with joy and revelation that Francey issued forth from my speakers…The 14 original songs on this CD sound strongly influenced by the tradition. Most of the songs on here are about work and loss of work, life and loss of ways of life…He also writes love songs that go straight to the heart and stay there…This is such an intensely musical recording it begs for you to hit the repeat key on the CD player."

Burnside, Johnny Cash, Eva Cassidy, Kasey Chambers, Bruce Cockburn, Judy Collins, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Stephen Fearing, Jesse Fuller, Steve Goodman, Grace Griffith, Si Kahn, Cindy Kallet, Jez Lowe, the Persuasions, John Prine, Tony Rice, Peter Rowan, Peggy Seeger, Cosy Sheridan, Ralph Stanley, Wake the Dead, and more.

Folk Roots/Folk Branches is normally heard on Thursday mornings from 9:00-11:30 (eastern) on CKUT, 90.3 FM in Montreal, and in RealAudio from the Folk Roots/Folk Branches website.

Since August 31, we've been extended until noon on alternate weeks. This is an alternate week, so we're on until noon.

That'll be 2-5 pm in London, England, 8-11 am in Chicago, Illinois and 6-9 am in Bolinas, California.

I just checked the CKUT RealAudio feed. It's working, but is very noisy/staticcy. I've reported the problem, but I'm not sure how fast it'll be tended to. Last time there was a problem, they got to it at about 9:30.

Gotta go get ready, Folk Roots/Folk Branches starts in 126 minutes.
