Subject: Something to ponder for 2001
From: Jimmy C
Date: 31 Dec 00 - 04:04 PM

The following is something to ponder as we approach the new year.

If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep ... you are richer than 75% of this world.

If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change In a dish someplace ... you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy.

If you woke up this morning with more health than illness ... you are more blessed than the million who will not survive this week.

If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation...you are ahead of 500 million people in the world.

If you can attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death ... you are more blessed than three billion people in the world.

If your parents are still alive and still married...you are very rare

If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful, you are blessed because the majority can, but most do not.

If you can hold someone's hand, hug them or even touch them on the shoulder, you are blessed because you can offer healing touch.

If you can read this message, you just received a double blessing in that someone was thinking of you, and furthermore, you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world that cannot read at all.

Have a good day, every day of 2001, count your blessings, and pass this along to remind everyone else how blessed we all are, and lets see if we cannot change some of the above statistics in the future, Happy new Years Everybody.

That's pretty much the ultimate gratitude list in a nutshell. Thanks a lot, Jimmy. When you think of how upset we can get over the most trivial things when we are so blessed is trully humbling.

Happy New Year!

Rich

Jimmy, thanks for that. With your permission I'd like to plagiarise it for some of my more curmudgeonly acquaintances.

I'd be tempted to plagerize this except I have received t so many times in the last three years I didn't realize there was anyone left on earth who hadn't read it.

Amen to that one. It's so easy to forget that we have so much. I think we should all try not to take so much for granted.

God bless, Rebecca <><

A few more:

If you can drink a glass of clean water out of the tap without fear of disease, you are doing better than 800 million people;
If you have a daughter in school for more than 5 years, she is doing better than 87% of the female children in the world.
If you have a son in school for more than 5 years, he is doing better than 65% of the male children in the world.

yours, Peter T.
