For the more peripatetic of the accordion afficianadi, here are a couple of places of note (so to speak...):

In NYC, look for "Main Squeeze", a shop that a friend - a former Wall Streeter and inveterate collector of instruments of every description - claims is the wet dream come true of every squeeze-box fan. The owner is a German gent, a top-notch accordionist himself and a member of "The Last of the International Playboys", a modern big band based in the Big Apple.

On the other side of the Atlantic, be sure to drop into the accordian shop in Wadebridge on the north coast of Cornwall. It's a well-rounded music store (I bought my "UK-side" travel guitar there last year), but its speciality and its owner's passion is accordions.
