Subject: Cottage in the country From: JPC Date: 08 Jan 01 - 01:05 PM Hi all- I'm looking for the lyrics to a song I heard in Ireland when I was back for the Christmas. My internet searches have prooved fruitless. The chorous goes something like this:
There's an old cottage waiting in the country Any help would be appreciated. Thanks and regards, JPC. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Cottage in the country From: mousethief Date: 08 Jan 01 - 01:15 PM Haven't found the lyrics yet but I have discovered that a song with this title is covered on a CD by Christina George: blicky. It is noted as a "contemporary" (rather than "Traditional") song. Also, there is a Rogers and Hart musical ("Simple Simon") that contains a song called "Cottage in the Country" (blicky). Wonder if they're the same song? Good luck! Alex |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Cottage in the country From: Jim Dixon Date: 07 Feb 10 - 10:56 PM The British Library has in its collection sheet music for a song called A COTTAGE IN THE COUNTRY (THAT'S THE THING) by Walter Donaldson (New York: Donaldson-Douglas & Gamble, 1930). There's also JUST A LITTLE COTTAGE IN THE COUNTRY CALLING 'COME BACK HOME', words by Andrew B. Sterling and music by Alfred Solman (New York: Joe Morris Music Co., 1917). It seems unlikely either of these are the song you want. I would guess Isla Grant probably wrote the song she sings called A COTTAGE IN THE COUNTRY, but I can't confirm this. You could write to Isla Grant through: her web site. |
