Subject: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: bigchuck Date: 22 Jan 01 - 01:07 PM The Mudcat Concert series (and I) have been taking a bit of a breather lately. If there is still interest, I would like to get things rolling again, but to do that I need some VOLUNTEERS to perform. Some people have asked, but none have followed up to schedule themselves. At the moment, MMario is scheduled to do a repeat concert on Thursday, February 15, and my daughter and her husband will do one sometime in Feb. Also Midchuck and Mrs. Chuck will probably do one. Anyone else who is interested please step forward. To reiterate briefly, the concerts have been held in the Paltalk concert room, which is password protected. They have generally been on Thursday nights, starting at 8:00 and lasting for an hour or so. The details are entirely up to the performer. We have done an alternate night or two to suit performer's schedules, and a few have started earlier to make the concert more accessible to folks across the Pond. If someone would like to volunteer to open the room for me, we could start at 6:30 or 7:00 regularly (My work schedule makes it difficult for me to open the room much earlier than 8:00). This is EST, of course. So, how about it? If you are interested let me know, either in this thread or PM, or e-mail me at moorse@together.net Sandy |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: Dave (the ancient mariner) Date: 22 Jan 01 - 01:12 PM If I ever get a day off I will be glad to volunteer, but I rarely can plan anything in advance(damned callouts) However it would appear that in Feb I may be laid up for a bit. Will try then for: "An Evening With The Mariner" (not Sir Neville) Yours, Aye. Dave |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: bigchuck Date: 22 Jan 01 - 01:38 PM Great Dave, I'd love to have you do a concert. Let me know when you can schedule one. Sandy |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: Lanfranc Date: 22 Jan 01 - 06:51 PM If it's not too soon after the last, I could do another. I have plenty of material, so that's no problem.

Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: Matt_R Date: 22 Jan 01 - 06:54 PM I'd like to do one some time as well. |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: SINSULL Date: 22 Jan 01 - 07:12 PM Sandy, I can arrange my schedule to open the room for you. Send me some instructions and I will be there. Does this mean I get the front row aisle seat? MMario keeps grabbing it. Him and his damn canoe. |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: bigchuck Date: 22 Jan 01 - 07:48 PM Thanks Mary. I'll send along the admin code by PM. I thought it was Brett with the bloody canoe. Matt and Lanfranc thank you. I'll post a list of open dates as soom as my daughter decides on hers. I'd like to get rolling again by Feb. 8. Sandy |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: Matt_R Date: 22 Jan 01 - 07:50 PM Oh you mean your mean daughter is gonna sing for us? LOL! I wonder if she still thinks I'm obnoxious! |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: MMario Date: 22 Jan 01 - 08:10 PM I've sat in the balcony since the first concert. |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: Midchuck Date: 22 Jan 01 - 08:19 PM Matt, you have Sandy's daughter confused with mine. They're both mean, but mine is meaner. But the Wicked Children (Sandy's grandgirls) are the Meanest. Peter. |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: Matt_R Date: 22 Jan 01 - 08:33 PM Ah, I see! Sorry! |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: bigchuck Date: 23 Jan 01 - 07:47 AM At this point, IvanB is scheduled for Feb. 1 and MMario for Feb. 18. That leaves the 8th and 22nd unbooked. Dave, could you take one of those two dates? I'll offer them to Matt or lanfranc if you are unable. Sandy |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: Dave (the ancient mariner) Date: 23 Jan 01 - 04:32 PM Better offer them up, I'm working next month and cannot say when I will be able to do one. I think it might be a non standard day or time for me mate... Yours, Aye. Dave |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: SINSULL Date: 23 Jan 01 - 05:22 PM OOOPS! Sorry MMArio. You have the damn feather (which was inundated in the wave created by Brett's overturning canoe.) How did the feather become a problem in the front row if you were in the balcony? |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: bigchuck Date: 23 Jan 01 - 07:23 PM OK Dave, but if you do get time on short notice, I'm sure we can work something out. Let me know. |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: Inukshuk Date: 24 Jan 01 - 07:54 AM I would appreciate the opportunity of presenting a concert. Either the 8th or the 22nd is fine with me. I would prefer the 22nd, though, since I have a gig the next day, and it would be good practice. |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: MMario Date: 24 Jan 01 - 08:33 AM Inukshuk! that would be great! Hope Bigchuck can slot you in. |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: bigchuck Date: 24 Jan 01 - 08:52 AM Inukshuk, the 22 is yours. Thanks for stepping forward. Sandy |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: SINSULL Date: 24 Jan 01 - 09:15 AM Happy birthday Inukshuk. Hope you'll explain your name at the concert. |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: Amergin Date: 24 Jan 01 - 12:47 PM Sins, I think he explained it once in PalTalk...said it was some Inuit thingamabobmajigger.....though whether he was bulshitting or not, remains to be seen... |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: Dave (the ancient mariner) Date: 24 Jan 01 - 02:50 PM Inukshuk is Inuit for stoneman or cairn of stones shaped like a man; a marker left to show others that people lived or passed this way before. That is his family name so its a play on words. Yours, Aye. Dave |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: cowboypoet Date: 24 Jan 01 - 07:44 PM It would be a distinct honor to perform for such an august assemblage. My set would probably include both cowboy songs (mostly traditional) and poems (both original and un-), if that would be all right. One last thing... I'm sure this new computer can provide the vehicle, but I'd need to know how to drive it. Could you send me a pointer to how Paltalk (that's the tool of choice, right?) works in this context and what I need to do to get it set up? |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: bigchuck Date: 24 Jan 01 - 08:55 PM Cowboypoet, the basic Paltalk info is probably in a section of the necomers guide permathread. Checkout the relevant sections. I'll keep a date open for you. Sandy |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: Katcina Date: 26 Jan 01 - 02:13 AM Sandy, I would be happy to help in any way that I can. I am generally free by 5:30pm EST so if I can be of any assistance just let me know. |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: bigchuck Date: 26 Jan 01 - 07:07 AM Thanks, Katcina. I'll keep it in mind. Sandy |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: artbrooks Date: 29 Jan 01 - 08:10 PM I gather from other comments on other threads that the concerts are held in a closed room. How do I get the secret password? |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: bigchuck Date: 29 Jan 01 - 09:01 PM Art, the secret password is marmot. I post a concert blurb every week which will include the password. Sandy |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: Abby Sale Date: 31 Jan 01 - 06:26 PM bigchuck: Art, the secret password is marmot. I post a concert blurb every week which will include the password. When & what thread name? |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: bigchuck Date: 31 Jan 01 - 06:41 PM This week it is "CatConcert 12: IvanB" |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: Abby Sale Date: 02 Feb 01 - 09:07 AM Ok, bigchuck, when & under what threadname do you post the Secret Word and does a duck drop down and give me $100 when I say it? I only accidentally caught the code (above) for Ivan and I really wouldn't have wanted to miss the fine work he did. (Half a song is better than none) Now I wouldn't want to miss the upcomming MMario gig so fess up. Where do this get posted? Here? |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: Midchuck Date: 02 Feb 01 - 09:24 AM Mario, I think these concerts are being scheduled as a regular thing - as long as BC doesn't run out of people willing to do one or people willing to listen - every Thursday night at 8:00 Mudcat (Eastern US) time.
The password for the Concert room has been "marmot" since it was opened. I doubt it will be changed unless it gets too widely circulated and we start getting disruptive Peter. |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: Midchuck Date: 02 Feb 01 - 09:25 AM Sorry, I meant Abby, not Mario. Skipped down too fast. P. |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: MMario Date: 02 Feb 01 - 09:31 AM I was wondering what question I asked. Abby - my concert is scheduled for February 15th - and will probably have "Variations on Love" as a theme. *heh-heh-heh* that leaves a LOT of territory open! |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: Abby Sale Date: 02 Feb 01 - 06:17 PM Mc: Now I know. Thank you. I look foeward to the mentioned MMario: That's fine. Yes, I look forwars to that way-out territory. Now, you're not talking that namby-pamby, wimpy, little-old-lady-Oscar-Brand way-out, I trust...

Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: Matt_R Date: 03 Feb 01 - 11:07 AM Do we have a schedule now? Who's next? |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: bigchuck Date: 03 Feb 01 - 07:02 PM Matt, we have a schedule going, but next Thursday (Feb 8) may be open. I'll find out tomorrow and let you know. Could you do one then on such short notice? Sandy |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: reggie miles Date: 06 Feb 01 - 08:08 PM I might be willing to do the 8th if I can get my stings changed before then. Keep me posted |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: reggie miles Date: 06 Feb 01 - 08:12 PM I have noticed though that some of the same stuttering in the sound quality that happened with Hearme is still going on with the Paltalk format. Is this just something we have to live with because of the unstable nature of the web or our own equipment? |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: MMario Date: 06 Feb 01 - 08:14 PM reggie - in short; yup |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: bigchuck Date: 06 Feb 01 - 08:36 PM Reggie, Matt has the 8th due to prior request. However there are open dates in March, the 8th, 15th and 22, if you'd like to pick one of those, let me know. . Lanfranc, you could pick one too. The Brits have been clamoring for an early concert, if you'd like to do one. Sandy |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: bigchuck Date: 06 Feb 01 - 09:29 PM Ok, Lanfranc has March 15, and will do an early show for the European folks. |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: reggie miles Date: 07 Feb 01 - 09:13 AM I don't understand, "an early show for the European folks"? Sorry I'm a little at this. Can someone please explain? |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: reggie miles Date: 07 Feb 01 - 09:17 AM Oops, that should have read, I'm a little "new" at this. |
Subject: RE: Help: Mudcat concerts on PalTalk From: Jon Freeman Date: 07 Feb 01 - 10:25 AM Reggie, the concerts are scheduled in Mudcat (EST) and the usual starting time is 8:00pm. For those of us living in the UK, that works out as a 1:00am start. Abby, I'm sure it can be arranged to show you the red dot system in the open room without the need of a trouble maker. We can't demonstrate bouncing someone though - that can only be done to a real nuisance (the person bounced can not come back for 24hrs and PalTalk monitor bounces). Jon |
