Subject: Help? Time block filter wanted
From: LaMarca
Date: 03 Oct 97 - 05:17 PM

Help to Max or other knowledgable techies! I've been on vacation, and want to scan the discussion forum for what went on while I was gone. If I set the filter to "14 Days" or longer, it takes forever to load all the threads and to jump back and forth from the thread to the thread list. Is there a way to filter for just the threads from one day, say 26-Sept, or for all the threads from a particular time block, say 23-Sept to 25-Sept. That way I could catch up piecemeal, and have the downloads go quicker...

see the thread...'another new feature'...exactly what you needed, but a bit too late..*sigh*...perhaps just a search on dates would do it??

hmmm...search on the first date you want...then pick what you want to follow from THAT bunch and do 'add to tracer' and follow that thread thru the days...that should eliminate a lot of extraneous stuff...

Hi LaMarca, I also have this problem after vacation. I do not know how to do what you are explicitely looking for, but here is my solution:

I usually use this adress (http://www.mudcat.org/threads.cfm?Title=&Age=5) to access this page. Now you can set the "Age=.." to any value you like and get exactly the last n days. So you do not have to bother with 14 days when you have actually been away for lets say 11 days. Yes, it starts slowly, but there will be only few threads on the distant days (the more interesting ones have "moved up" on the time scale). And then you set the age down to 10, 9, 8, and it is getting faster from day to day.

But I do hope you do not need this advice and next time I can also profit from the "professional" response to your question.

Regards Wolfgang
