Subject: Forum searches From: richardw Date: 29 Jan 01 - 08:23 PM Okay Joe or Max or .. Why am I having trouble with Forum searches? I try to search for threads I know exist but sometimes they to not come up. Is there a date limit? Does it search on one word or do I need the whole thread name (which i can't remember) etc? Any help appreciated. Richard |
Subject: RE: Help: Forum searches From: George Seto - af221@chebucto.ns.ca Date: 29 Jan 01 - 11:51 PM I'm not one of the "Joe Clones", but can you give some examples of what you can't find? I did a search earlier this evening for an old thread which had the word Corinthians, and was able to get to it quickly. Mind you, I was using the SuperSearch. Were you using this one or the older Forum Search? If it was the older Forum Search. There are some problems with it, especially when trying to find a single word in the body of the messages. |
Subject: RE: Help: Forum searches From: richardw Date: 30 Jan 01 - 12:09 AM Thanks George; I was looking for a thread on Young British Soldier which I had posted some months back. But I found it with your suggestion of using the Enhanced. Thanks Richard |
Subject: RE: Help: Forum searches From: Sorcha Date: 30 Jan 01 - 12:14 AM There are so many ways of searching MudCat and DT that you really have to be quite specific about which search is not working for you. I have had trouble lately with the "Digitrad and Forum Search" box on the left of the main screen, but good luck with the "Forum Search" which is in the Quick Links pull down menu. I also bookmarked the SuperSearch engine......http://www.mudcat.org/@NewSSResults.cfm |
Subject: RE: Help: Forum searches From: katlaughing Date: 30 Jan 01 - 12:17 AM Remember, too, if it was fairly recent it may not show in the SuperSearch right away. If I remember correctly, Max has to do some kind of input every once in awhile to include newsly posted threads; in that instance it is better to use the filter box and set the date. You can also do a search of all of your own posts by clicking on your name in any post. kat aka - la joeclone - |
Subject: RE: Help: Forum searches From: Joe Offer Date: 30 Jan 01 - 09:34 PM Well, I've got a pretty complete explanation in the FAQ - maybe it's too complete, but I tried not to get too wordy.
Hope that helps. -Joe Offer- |
