Subject: TUNES: Sleepy Peedie Laddie and Handcart Song From: Jon W. Date: 08 Oct 97 - 11:15 AM I have MIDI and Noteworthy Composer files available for these two songs which I can E-mail to those who want them (Ferrara, are you listening?) Unfortunately I don't have the software to put them into ABC Notation (see ABC test thread) or I would just post them here. Just click on "EMail Member" button and look for "Jon W.", send me your e-mail address, and I'll send a reply with the tune files attached. If you don't request NWC (Noteworthy Composer) I'll just send the MIDI file. |

Subject: RE: TUNES: Sleepy Peedie Laddie and Handcart Song From: Shula Date: 10 Oct 97 - 01:58 PM Dear Jon, Very grateful for the tune to "Sleepy Peedie Laddie," which I can hardly wait to decipher. Still think I've heard it before, and that, although you are quite correct that the lyrics can be made to work for a parent of either gender, that when I heard it, it was sung by a man. Maybe the tune will sharpen my recollection. Still think it just about the dearest lullabye I've ever encountered, -- and, as the singing parent to a passle o' youn'uns I've made note of quite a few. As part of an important chapter of American history, The Handcart Song's not too shabby, either! Might as well try 'em both. Happy dreams and gentle rest, Shula
