Subject: Lyr Add: TRIP THROUGH HOLYHEAD^^ From: Fergie Date: 08 Feb 01 - 04:00 PM I have these song words on my data base, I don't know its title or anything about it, however I have become very interested in it because it has become clear to me that the place name mentioned in stanza 4 as Ynys Môn is in fact a corruption of Inis Meáin one of the Aran islands. I have a long standing connection with Inis Meáin and I have never heard this song sung there, so I would like to know details; The title, the author, the notation and any existing recordings, I have tried searching Mudcat and I have tried search engines but no luck, will Mudcatters please rise to the challenge.
Fifty-three and the factory's closing,
Seven-thirty a.m. in the morning,
Now I've worked for Laing and for Wimpey,
Come Christmas I'm standing in Euston,
You'd think the whole country of Erin
There's much jubilation and laughter, |
