Subject: Mudcat Song Circle Room Available Again From: Jon Freeman Date: 09 Feb 01 - 06:08 AM It seems to me that with all the troubles, even though there are more rooms, nothing is getting opened so I have decided to make this room available again. The room will run in the same way as before but with one major difference. The room is no longer the democracy I tried to make it before with the help of Dave, Jacko and others, it is a dictatorship - in other words, if you don't like it, don't use it. It is simply there for anyone who may wish to use it. Jon |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Song Circle Room Available Again From: GUEST,Midchuck in his bathrobe f/k/a EMG Date: 09 Feb 01 - 07:18 AM In this particular situation, a dictatorship may make more sense than a democracy. As long as people are allowed to know what the rules are ahead of time, so they can decide whether to come in or not. Peter. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Song Circle Room Available Again From: Jon Freeman Date: 09 Feb 01 - 08:06 AM I don't want to refresh this thread but as of 1st April 2001, I have taken this room out of circulation. These rules only remain for historical purposes. Jon Rules, OK but first let me make it clear that this room simply exists to ensure that something is availible. If other Mudcat Rooms are opened, there will be no debates over divisiveness either way in relation to this room - it is a facility that is there for the taking or leaving. RULES. This room aims to support and promote LIVE folk and blues music. Some degree of tolerance will be given to other genres of music, the actual degree of leeway is to be decided upon by the Admin. Except as described below, this room will not to be used for the playing of recordings and does not permit the use of backing tracks or karaoke. This room is an open room and Mudcatters and "outsiders" will be welcomed and treated with equal respect. The maintainence of "Law and Order" in the room is the responsibility of the Admin. If a user has a complaint, it will be addressed in a private message to the Admin who will take appropriate action. Under no circumstances will one user complain to another user in the public text window. This room may be opened at any time by anyone with the Admin key which is availble to all Mudcatters. I will endeavour to restrict Admin rights to Mudcatters but I reserve the rights to enlist the help of others should the need arise, any such descision being taken at my sole discresion. The conditions for being an Admin are as follows:
The Paltalk Permanent Group Adminstration Guidelines must be followed at all times. I reserve the rights to change these rules at any time and for any purpose I deem necessary. Jon {updated 09-Feb-01 5:30PM GMT} |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Song Circle Room Available Again From: Dave (the ancient mariner) Date: 09 Feb 01 - 08:31 AM Jon. Your benign dictatorship is a fine example of leadership; and a good lesson on how to behave decently. I shall cancel my private Mudcat room, and continue to support the Song Circle. May I have the admin key please? Yours, Aye. Dave |

Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Song Circle Room Available Again From: Musicman Date: 09 Feb 01 - 11:39 AM i'll help admin when i can... and I totally support the 'rules' of this room.....There are enough other rooms for karaoke music and other styles, we can easily make ours selective to what we want to hear.... those who don't, can leave, simple as that...... thanks jon for making it clear...... jon... have you change the codes or anything.. maybe pm me with the updated so I have it... thanks... Musicman... |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Song Circle Room Available Again From: SINSULL Date: 09 Feb 01 - 11:55 AM Damn! Shall I put my new $2000 Karaoke machine up for auction? Or will Max throw me out of MC altogether? Fortunately, my experience with Paltalk has been only positive. And I expect it will continue to be. The sound quality is better than ever and I get tossed out infrequently. Thanks, Jon. If and when I get a working mic, i will request the codes. Mary |

Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Song Circle Room Available Again From: Jon Freeman Date: 09 Feb 01 - 12:35 PM I have had a slight change of heart regarding the Admin rules that has made it necessary for me to change the key. I will send PMs to Dave and Musicman who have asked for the key. Should anyone else require it, please let me know or speak to Dave. Jon |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Song Circle Room Available Again From: IvanB Date: 09 Feb 01 - 12:48 PM Jon, I support you 100% in this move. The situation needed someone to take positive action, whether it's acceptable to all or not. Since I'm leaving early next week for 6 more weeks in a warmer climate, it'd be silly for me to get the admin codes at this time. I'll probably ask when I get back and have the time and connection to administer the room. I do have one question, tho: Are the PalTalk admin guidelines available somewhere on their site? I've surfed that site fairly extensively and never found them. I'm not questioning anything you've stated, I'd just like to be aware of their guidelines so I know what to enforce. |

The other trials proved to be an ineffective means of transportation I am sorry to say. Thank you Jon for stepping back in. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Song Circle Room Available Again From: Liz the Squeak Date: 10 Feb 01 - 06:06 PM So when can we get to play then?? Us UKers here need some beauty sleep at some point - some more than others.... and we'd like a few more early starts please? The concerts are fun, but not when the act is more than 10 mins late...... It was nearly 2am by the time I got to bed... LTS |

Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Song Circle Room Available Again From: Katcina Date: 10 Feb 01 - 06:16 PM Lix, Maybe you UKers could get together and decide upon a time that would work best for you. I would gladly help in any way that I could even though I an a "Yank". I can make an hour or two free most any time of the day to be able to hepl open and admin the room for you guys. Katcina |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Song Circle Room Available Again From: Jon Freeman Date: 11 Feb 01 - 08:34 AM Liz, why don't you get the Admin key, open the room yourself and advertise your presence in a thread here? You would probably find a few people coming along and joining you. Jon |
