HEARTS OF GLORY
        (by Chuck Cliff)

I dreamt a dream of ancient times
        when hearts were filled with glory;
And everyone was living in
        sweet simplicity...

        I pray it's not a fable,
I pray that the day will come:
When, to live like this, in Eden's bliss,
                will be reality...

I dreamt I saw an open door
        within each human heart,
And I saw the bonds which keep us close
        altho we are apart.

        I pray it's not a fable,
I pray that the day will come:
When the love that lives for everyone
shines thru -- bright morning star!

I dreamt I heard tin silver bells
        proudly pealing and ringing,
And the songs I heard, without any words,
        was only angels singing.

        I pray it's not a fable,
I pray that the day will come:
When every girl and boy will know the joy
                that lives in everything.

The opening phrase of the music to this song is a reworking of the channel marker used for years by Danish Radio.

It is the oldest known musical notation ever found in Scandinavia (12th century), the words which go with the melody are "Jeg droemt en droem om hvide pael..."
(I dreamt a dream of white fur [garments]...). That is all there is...

The melody has always fascinated me.

I first heard it when I was stationed in Turkey, back in '62, listening for Russian voice traffic for the Army Security Agency (we had some damn good radios the taxpayers paid for...)

I've often felt that this melody somehow brought me to Scandinavia, looking for the mother I never knew.

Any one who would like to hear this song, drop me a mail and I'll zap it to you. In .mp3 format -- it fills a little under 3 mb.

Just a note, here. When you are adding lyrics, it helps the Harvesters to find them if you put Lyr Add: in the thread title. We seem to have lots of added things lately with out this.

Sorry about, that Sorcha,

Assume you mean that 'optional' field to the left?

I did that the first time, and the message never got posted, thought maybe that was the wrong way.

Maybe it had something to do with the 'corrupt cookie' I got the next day, and thought was so funny...

I can also see that chord pattern I put in looks (sea)sick. Guess I'll leave that sort of thing out.

I'll get the hang of it, and expect to be corrected until I do -- I appreciate what you do on this forum probably gets little thanks in proportion to the effort therefore:

Thanks to you and the others who have created and maintain the MC.
