Subject: Calling North Carolina Catters From: Callie Date: 11 Mar 01 - 08:45 AM Hi folks I plan to be in Raleigh for ten days at the beginning of June. Will any Catters be over that way at that time and interested in making live contact with an Aussie Cat? Music session? Anything? Callie |
Subject: RE: Calling North Carolina Catters From: Bluesman and kde Date: 11 Mar 01 - 09:10 AM Hi, Katie and I live in Greenville, not too far from Raleigh. Why types of music and instruments do you play. We're into the acoustic blues and folk music. Let us know..............Jim and Katie |

Subject: RE: Calling North Carolina Catters From: Bluesman and kde Date: 11 Mar 01 - 09:28 AM Hi Susan, This is Bluesman, Katie signed up as a member and it obviously changed my membership. I guess it's probably because it's on the same computer. I tried to get up with Matt but haven't had any luck so far. Wish I could get up with him because I'm looking for some local players. Any help would be appreciated.........Jim (and Katie) |
Subject: RE: Calling North Carolina Catters From: wysiwyg Date: 11 Mar 01 - 11:23 AM Jim, if you check the FAQ thread you'll see that a computer can have multiple memberships if there are two e-mails, and e-mail of course is available for free from a number of providers. Personally I think it's fine to share a membership but people who want to send either of you a PM may not realize or appreciate that the spouse can read it as well. And it may make replying to PMs a bit awkward-- people do not always use your first name when they PM, so you may not be sure who they are addressing. Membership names also can be changed, if it would help any to clarify yours. Note my post in your MATT R thread too. Also, BTW, his Mudcat name used to be Mbo, which is why you will see him addressed in a number of ways-- Matt, Mbo, Meebs, Meebo, etc. He'll explain it all to you!
~Susan ... who lives with Hardiman the Fiddler and occasionally our daughterling Artsy D Lemur... Our cookie jar is always full! *G* |
Subject: RE: Calling North Carolina Catters From: Callie at work Date: 11 Mar 01 - 09:02 PM Hi Bluesman Folk music is our big interest. My partner is best known as an unaccompanied singer. His folks live in raleigh but we're both in Australia. I play a little guitar but mainly to accompany myself. We're both interested in hearing trad music or music particular to the area, and in making contact with people interested in acoustic music and local issues. It would be great to meet up! Callie (This is my first trip to USA!) |
Subject: RE: Calling North Carolina Catters From: Matt_R Date: 11 Mar 01 - 09:24 PM CALLIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Weird! Your first time in the USA, and you come to Raleigh! I'd love to see your show! Maybe we can trade Jeff Lynne tips, eh? Beginning of June is great, I will be off from ECU for summer and probably working at the ECU Music Library. You know I'll be requesting that you sing "I'll Be Back" by the Beatles! And Bluesman & Katie, I'd love to meet you two! We could have a big Mudcatter get together! I know Dani is near Raleigh and one of our Mudcatter Barbara's live in Raleigh...near the place where Elizabeth Cotton wrote "Freight Train". Big music fun, here we come! I noticed Bluseman, that you used "get up with"! It's good to hear familiar NC phrases here on The 'Cat! Looking forward to hearing ya! |
Subject: RE: Calling North Carolina Catters From: Bluesman and kde Date: 12 Mar 01 - 02:06 PM Callie, We are looking forward to "getting up with y'all" (Y'all, another good old Southern word!!!!) Let me tell you from the "git go" that I'm not the best musician around. I play mostly with my thumb and two fingers in the styles of Merle Travis and Chet Atkins, but I do love "pickin' and grinnin'" with others. Matt, I hope you and I can get together soon. Katie and I really enjoy being members of this great group.........Jim (and Katie) |

Maybe y'all (see - I'm getting the lingo) could PM me with contact details! Callie |
