Subject: Convince me that today is a good day!
From: tiggerdooley
Date: 23 Mar 01 - 05:36 PM

I've been working late all week 'til seven o'clock moving heavy books for no thanks. My arms are black and blue and I ache all over. And I'm also doing a Saturday shift tomorrow at nine o' clock.
I've just found out that contrary to what I was led to believe, I DO have to pay council tax this month.
My landlords are coming around first thing Monday morning to do an 'annual inspection' (although how they can call it annual when they didn't do one last year is beyond me). This means that a) the well earned weekend rest will have to wait another week because I will be cleaning my rubbish dump of a flat and b) the landlords are REALLY coming around to remind us that they are selling the flat from beneath us, and to remind us to get the hell out!

I won't even START to tell you about my flatmate's problems (which directly affect me - both financially AND emotionally!) because that's her business.

I'm normally quite chipper and optomistic, 'cos I know that life's too short, but I'm finding it difficult during this Hell-week!

I've just remembered that the leccy bill is due any day! HELP ME STOP THE WORRYING, 'CATTERS

Bummer.

Try and chill out for 10 mins. Eat chocolate. Kill someone. Works for me.....

Take care of yourself, plan a day off and just get away from it all.. choose a maximum distance and mark it off on the map, stick a pin in it and go there, just to see what's there. Who knows where you will end up - in my case it was 3 miles the wrong side of Brighton Pier, but there we go!!!

Much sympathy, hope it doesn't all go bum shaped.

Yer right there Spaw, I learned that during the revolution in Iran. "It was a good day if you were still alive at the end of it"

So cheer up Tigger me ol'china, pop 'round to your nearest Mudcatter and start a jam session.

"I cried because I had no shoes, then I met a boy who had no feet." I know it isn't much help, but we all have a 'dark night of the soul', I hope this is the worst you'll ever know. Like LtS said, drop it all and go chill out for a bit. It will pass and there will be a much better situation to replace it and you'll wonder why the heck you didn't make the move sooner.

Tigger, me darlin' -- It's always a great day when you can cry, slobber, rage and rant to your best friends in the world, your fellow Mudcatters!

Yea, shit happens, and it happens to all of us -- but, we're still standing, aren't we? Can you whistle a tune, hum a line of a favourite song, listen to a tune being played on the radio, see someone smile??? Then it's a good day, ya lil' buggah... *BG* ;-)

I was feeling sorry for myself because I had no shoes.

Then I met a man who had no feet.

And I said, "Can I have your shoes?"

Well sometimes life sucks. But if you can walk, see, hear, and sing, then you have so much more than so many people in this world.

Put on music that makes you feel good, crank it up, and relax.

Aw, you guys!!!!! I KNEW you could sort me out. Soon this crap will be a distant memory, and I'll be on the other side of it, and I know that. I might just get some sleep, and if it's raining when I wake up, then I know God's having a laugh and things can only get better, but if it's sunny, then it's a sign that the tide is turning.

All of a sudden, the Waterboys come to mind. They got me through some shit when I was a kid, and they might just do it again, along with my friends at the Mudcat. Thanks for your dots on a screen, folks. They help. If anyone else is a bit wobbly right now, listen to the album 'This is the Sea' by the Waterboys.

'That was the river, this is the sea...'

Don't worry, Amergin, I'm not gonna moan any more, I feel a lot better! You ARE my friend aren't you?
Nice one, Micca, LTS, Bert, Spaw, Guest, Aine, Mousethief. It's good to know that all these people who I've never met want to take the time to make me, and more importantly, anybody else out there feel a bit brighter and more able to take on the world. Right back at you, kids!

Tigger, remember killing someone is for life not just for bad times.....our patio is so lumpy now,I wish I'd taken another decision, howsomever, a good heavy weight rolls those boogers right out.You can always call Rent-a-Party, which is usually me, and Micca and Liz and a few other like minded souls to come and drink you dry, laugh at your problems and leave you believing it could be so very much worse.....specially if we lived near you all the time.

Thanks.

There is another reason why I feel better. I didn't notice it in the tv guide, but I flicked channels, and Flashdance is on on BBC1 (UK 'Catters alert!). I mean, I've got it on video, but to share it with the nation, WHAT A FEELIN'!!!!

Nope. Everything me and my friends have encountered today, including every television program that has come on, has been dark, depressing, and fit to match the weather. The day is trying very hard.

On the other hand, all my work is done, break has begun, and I have chocolate cake. You should too.

A bad day is a bad day, whether you have feet or not! My days of late have been crummy, crappy and tearful. I just try very hard not to be a pain in the ass to my friends and sort things out in my own liitle world. I take long walks, listen to music that makes me happy and remind myself that life is worthwhile afterall. Surround yourself with good and positive people and you'll be better off for it. In the meantime, remember this...how can you enjoy the good times without knowing the bad?
Cheers.... LL

Well ... to be honest, I've known plenty of bad times over the centuries, so I think I have developed a fine appreciation of what a good period looks, smells and feels like. So I don't think I'll go crashing my condition just to re-experience panic, fear, uncertainty and doubt (PFUD). One look at the Dow Jones gives me plenty of evidence that the world is over supplied with PFUD just now. And I know its a good day because I've learned that much, at least.

tiggerdooly, how about a perfectly awful joke?

Two guys were drinking in a bar, one threw up all over himself. He said "Oh damn, my wife is going to give me all kinds of grief for this," His pal says "Look, put a $20.00 bill in your shirt pocket and tell her some drunk did it by mistake, and he gave you $20.00 to get your suit cleaned." When the guy went home, his wife said "What a disgusting mess!" look at you,, you have puked all over yourself!" he says "Now dear, it was some drunk who did this, and he gave me $20.00 to get my clothes cleaned." She pulled the money from his shirt pocket and said "But, there are TWO twenties here!" He said "Yeah...same guy shit my pants too!"

Flashdance! I have that album, but I haven't seen the movie since I was a lot smaller than I am now.

I *love* the music for it, it's so corny, and yet so honest in a way. I dance classic-style to the love theme, and really crazy to maniac! And the theme song gets me crying every time, because I know what it feels like!

"Well, I have cried, silent tears, full of pride, in a world, made of steel, made of stone... now I hear the music, close my eyes, feel the rhythm, wrap around, take a hold, of my heart... WHAT A FEELIN'!!! Bein's believin'"

Tigger, can't think of anything funny, except that I have to go into school on Sunday and tidy my own tip. And that as one fifth of my own landlord I am now insisting on the same operation at home.

Springcleaning......hah! Imagine leaving the clutter somewhere to fall upon the guys as they inspect, but don't do it!

Sometimes good days come up out of the darkness and when you don't expect them. I had one yesterday (or last night). We went out to a pub which we heard had some folk music in and I put the banjo in the boot of the car just in case.

To my surprise, Sully was there and he asked me about the banjo which I had bought from him several years ago and he invited me to join in. After about 3 pints of Dutch courage, I did and I had a great time - first session with good musicians that I have played in in a long while and friendly people too!

Thanks, guys. I'm feeling SOOOOOOOOOO much better.

Kendal, I once fed my mum the same line, when I was a young degenerate (now I'm a not-so-young one, but I am becoming more refined as I get on). Trouble was, I didn't think of using a £20 to back up my story! What I didn't tell her was that before I'd met up with my friends, I'd been with my Dad at a Squeeze gig, and HE'D bought the beer that did this to me...

Parents!!

I've got all 'Zen' about my problems, now. Money? Hah! Pain? Hah! I have my health and my insanity. I am a wealthy woman!
