Subject: My Way parody From: GUEST,socalstoker Date: 23 Mar 01 - 08:39 PM Years ago, I heard Sam Hinton sing a wonderful parody of "My Way," with higher education as the theme. Does anyone have the lyrics? Thanks. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: My Way parody From: toadfrog Date: 23 Mar 01 - 11:23 PM I know the song, although I never associated it with Sam Hinton. I am a new member & am not clear on how to post lyrics. If someone will point me to the instructions, I'll be glad to help. |
Subject: Lyr Add: THEIR WAY (parody of 'My Way') From: toadfrog Date: 24 Mar 01 - 12:02 AM Here it is. Again, I never heard about the Sam Hinton link.
THEIR WAY
I came, bought all my books, lived in a dorm, followed directions,
I learned a lot of facts although I know I'll never use them.
But there were times I wondered why I had to walk when I could fly.
And now, my fine young friend, I have become a full Professor,
What can I say, what can I do? Bill Moore lines breaks added. You needed to use br not bk |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: My Way parody From: Susan of DT Date: 24 Mar 01 - 02:33 PM Of course, it is already in the DT, as Their Way. Guys, if you search for a phrase in the song, you are much more likely to find it. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: My Way parody From: GUEST,socalstoker Date: 26 Mar 01 - 02:05 AM Many thanks! Now I'm dying for the missing line, too, but maybe someone can find it and supply it. BTW, I tried searching the DT database before I posted the initial query, but what came up as Their Way wasn't this song. Thanks again. Sarah |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: My Way parody From: Jacob B Date: 26 Mar 01 - 04:34 PM Socalstoker, follow this link to the full text of the song in the Digital Tradition. And to give credit where credit is due, the author of the song is Bob Blue, who has written many other wonderful songs. Here's a link to a web site about Bob. And in the course of looking up this information, I came across a page that said that it was Michael Cooney who sang "Their Way" on Prairie Home Companion. |
