Where in the Tampa Bay area will you be LEJ? Unfortunately we are doing a 'dog and pony' show...a small scale CW demo at a VFW on the 30th and the 1st, so am already committed those two days. But there is always Mon and Tue PM.

Neat...let me get a little more info on this dog and pony show thing. As far as I can gather they are two seperate days events which we will 'day trip', meaning no cmap will be set up. If that is the case perhaps Saturday evening would be better time wise. (more time available because of not having to go to work Sunday)...Let me check. I will PM or e-mail you with further details....sounds neat!!

Hell, if nothing else, we'll set up on the beach, turn a hat upside down, and make some extra cash. :>}LEJ

LEJ

There's a contradance every Saturday night somewhere in the Tampa Bay area. They usually pick afterwards. For more info visit Bill Dudley's website at http://innet.com/~bdudley, or just do a Google search for "Bill Dudley"-his is the first site. (sorry, I don't do blueclickies yet) Bill's a great musician and an icon of the Tampa area folk scene. He'll know if anything's happenin'. The dance is fun too.

Also, if you can get away for a few hours, there's a major Bluegrass Festival, the Withlacoochee River Festival going on that weekend in the Dunnelon/Ocala area.

Cheers

bwl

Just wanted to thank Banjer for the true Southern Hospitality shown me on my recent trip to Florida. (I also wanted to warn everybody not to piss him off, because he's got a cannon in his garage.) Mrs Banjer, who is an accomplished gourmet cook, prepared dinner for us, and we headed off to a song circle for a great night of music. Thanks again, Ray...and I've got to get me one of those dulcimers!

Oh heck, LEJ...you missed the Florida Old Time Music Championships at Sertoma about thirty miles east of Tampa last weekend. It was fun though... right in the middle of the orange groves...hg

I'll be in the Tampa area from Friday through Sunday although I'm pretty committed timewise except Friday afternoon. i will have a rental car but don't want to drive much. I had thought to go to St. Petersburg if it is not too far. I will be at the Moving Wall for Vietnam veterans at a campground out of Brandon. Stop by the women's tent if you are in the area. mg

I'm two hundred thirty miles up the road from there, unfortunately. But, mg do you mean Bradenton? What is the Moving Wall?

no...Brandon I think is right...it is east of Tampa about 30 miles I am guessing...the Moving Wall is a replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall ...there are several of them that are brought to various communities in US and one went to Ireland I know. mg

Where were you all when I was in Pasco County from January through March? I mentioned this in more than one thread. That's okay though, 'cause I'm coming back by August. Cheers, BD

My father lives in Clearwater (in the winter, he's back in england in the summer!)and I visit him him from time to time over there. If there's any regular music on I'd like to know, I'll bring my voice and melodeon next time! Cheers, John (Manchester, England)

It was a wonderful visit with LEJ, but way too short...There was so many thing I wanted to ask but we were too busy at the song circle...I had a rough night, couldn't get anything working the way I wanted it to...My nylon strung banjo had been retuned by a friend earlier in the day and playing tunes I was used to just didn't work right. I went to the steel strung resonated banjo and was able to make it work somewhat...also played the Hard Times on the dulcimer for one round...Heard some wondrful music from the others and Leej was fabulous on that beautiful Alvarez twelve string that he has. Hope you enjoyed being here as I did having you, Leej. What about that Alice and that one note she held for such a long time? Tell them about that, LEJ!!

For those of you in the St. Pete Beach area, on the fourth Sunday of every month from 8PM till the wee hours, we have a great session at the Annie Moore Irish Pub. The craic is mighty and all are welcomed. Traditional Irish and all Celtic musics are enjoyed. All levels of musicians are there and many are visiting from Ireland, England, New Foundland, the states and of course from here in Fl. Annie Moore Irish Pub 6395 Gulf Blvd. St. Pete Beach, Fl. 727 363 4421 Dave D'Arcy from Dublin is the owner and a great supporter of the music too. (ask him to sing 'the Rocky Road to Dublin).
