Burke clued me in on this one. She indicates it will be a smallish one.

On Saturday April 7, as the third part of a singing school led by Eric Bean, an all-day singing will be held from 10-4 at St. John's Episcopal Church at 54 W. Main Street, Sodus, New York. All who plan to be south east of Lake Ontario that day are most warmly invited to attend.

There will be a pot luck dinner on the grounds.

This is being funded by a decentralization grant.

Sodus looks to be right between Rochester and Syracuse. I may get there if I can arrange someone else to cover the Saturday night service this week in case I don't get back in time. Anyone else?

~Susan

As a side Note Lui Collins is playing in Morrisville NY at Madison Hall In MAdison County call 315-684-9813 for info it's at 8pm. Kindest reguards, Neil

Well, count me out after all. I'll be attending a funeral on Saturday, for the mother of a priest pal of ours who died suddenly, and I will be working the event all day before doing our evening service.

Life is so weird. In the time since I posted this thread, I have settled down a panicked clergy spouse, quarterbacked getting the news out around five parishes and a Diocese, coordinated some of the funeral arrangements for my husband who will conduct the service, shared and heard memories of the departed with various people who had known her far better than I (she had also been a clergy spouse and, once, an attorney in Holland), attended a Lenten service preceded by dish-to-pass supper an hour away (driving both ways through wild country roads), and encouraged my family through this last very long Wednesday in Lent which began for my husband at 5:30 AM with four hours sleep. And he has the hard job, especially on Wednesdays, and especially Wednesdays in Lent, and especially the last one before Palm Sunday, even withtout friends' moms dying.

I am not complaining, just noticing how very weird life is. Just five hours ago, I actually thought I would get to this singing. Festivals? A whole weekend away? Maybe after Hardi retires in 2009.

Please come to our Gathering. We need to see some non-parishioner faces, real bad. And hey, if you get a chance, mention to Hardi how people appreciate clergy who really do their jobs, 24 & 7, willya?

~Susan

Susan; Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. And you may tell Hardi for me (Until I see him and get a chance) that to paraphrase the Bible that a good clergyman is a thing of rare beuaty. There are too many of them out there in all denominations who forget that their job is to serve God and their congregations. Morrisville is on Route 20 South of Cazenovia. I don't have a map at hand to give you directions. Two other dates of interest on her concert tour July 13, 8pm at the Endicott Performing Arts Center on Washington ave. In Endicott NY With Dana Robinson and SAt, July 14 at Allegheny Portage Railroad NAtional Park in Gallitzan Pa. 8pm with Dana Robinson. Those are te only three remotely close to this area although I'm not sure about the one ini Pa. (Hey, it's a big state) Chin up, Kiddo. I just got back to work (Of course, given my employer's propensity for layoffs God only knows for how long. I've been out since Christmas. THank the Lord, I was able to hook up with a temp job.) In other news the song book is with the publisher, (Big finger cross) My best to Hardi and hey, I think Spring has finally arrived in Central New York!!;-) Neil

Susan, sorry to hear about your friend as well. Just have to make it another time.

Neil, hope you can make it. Could you, or someone connected with the Morrisville series post pertinent information to the Friends of Folk Music in Central New York mailing list? FOF-CNY@LISTSERV.SYR.EDU I don't think it was mentioned there. I may be able to make it.

A larger all day singing will be near Rochester April 21, 2001. St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 77 Country Corner Lane, Fairport, NY.
