Subject: Lyr Add: SMILE! (poem/recitation) From: Nemesis Date: 11 Apr 01 - 12:04 PM Smiling is infectious. You catch it like the flu. When someone smiled at me today, I started smiling too.
I passed around the corner
I thought about that smile
So if you feel a smile begin, :)

It isn't any trouble just to G-R-I-N-grin.
It isn't any trouble just to HA-HA-HA-HA-HA.

Subject: RE: Smile! From: Justa Picker Date: 12 Apr 01 - 11:19 AM The Benefits of Laughter Laughter is not only good for the soul, it is also good for the body as well. During a laugh, the throat goes into un-coordinated spasms sending blasts of air out of the mouth at 110 km/h. The body starts pumping adrenaline; the heart rate increases; the brain releases endorphins and enkephalins --natural pain killers. The lungs pump out carbon dioxide, the eyes cleanse themselves with tears, muscles relax and lose their tenseness. The exercise value of laughter is so great that William Fry, a psychiatrist at the Stanford University School of Medicine in California, claims laughing 100 times a day is the equivalent of 10 minutes of strenuous rowing.

Subject: RE: Smile! From: Sarah the flute Date: 13 Apr 01 - 11:41 AM A long time ago at uni my so called friends as exam time approached decided to cheer me up by smiling at me. I have never forgotten as not only did they keep up an inane grin whenever they saw me but they kept up a constant stream of visitors to my room where I was trying to revise who asked me if there was anything I needed, if they could get me a coffee, get me something to eat, sing to me etcetc. It transpired someone had bought a poster which stated "Smile at someone today and drive them mad tomorrow" It works!!! |

Subject: RE: Smile! From: Liz the Squeak Date: 13 Apr 01 - 05:14 PM Doesn't hurt a thing to smile, and sure makes the world a nicer place to be in! :) You haven't ever had root canal work, a fractured skull or major surgery to parts between the chest and thighs have you.....? Hurts like buggery...... Smiling is about all I can do at the moment, a good belly laugh and it will probably all spill out onto the floor.... I have to brace for impact if I so much as want to clear my throat! LTS |

Subject: RE: Smile! From: tiggerdooley Date: 15 Apr 01 - 05:16 AM I play a game in the library where I work. It's called 'Smile, you miserable bugger!' I just pick the rudest, most scouling, miserable git I can find, and if they don't return my cheerful and welcoming smile (which everyone sees once, but only happy people see again) then I grin and grimace and utter the pleasantest of pleasantries in the most phoney manner possible. If they STILL don't smile back, then they are elevated to official Miserable Bugger status, I cease to smile at them and I conduct all future transactions in total silence. Don't mess with a shunned Tigger! |
