Subject: Anyone got an acoustic CHEAP? From: Stevangelist Date: 09 May 01 - 03:33 PM I'm currently renting a fairly decent Korean Jasmine (cheap Takamine) plywood job, but it's got sorta high action and the rental agreement says I can't have it set up. If anyone has an acoustic guitar with decent action CHEAP, I'd be happy to either come get it or pay to have it shipped. Yes, BTW, I've tried eBay. The problem with eBay is having to bid, wait, and then get snaked by a last-second bid. The music stores here in Louisville are all the same: high price for high profit. The only cheap (60-75 bucks) guitars they have are kiddie junk. The ones that are good beaters are WAY overpriced. It's cause of the demand for dreadnaughts here in Bluegrass country. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Especially if the price stays between 50-100 bucks. May The Road Rise To Meet You, Stevangelist

Subject: RE: Help: Anyone got an acoustic CHEAP? From: GUEST,Ed Date: 09 May 01 - 04:07 PM Stevangelist, With guitars, you pretty much get what you pay for. Unless you're really lucky, you won't get a halfway decent guitar for less than $200. Sorry, but that's how it is Ed |
Subject: RE: Help: Anyone got an acoustic CHEAP? From: Mike Byers Date: 09 May 01 - 04:09 PM I've got a Goya G-10 (made in Sweden), serial number 108605 that I never play. It needs some work, but nothing major. I got it around 1966, so that gives you an idea of the age. It's got one of those cheap, cardboard cases, but I have kept a humidifier in it. This is a classical-style guitar, so it might not be what you want. But if you'd like it, it's yours. Send me an e-mail at corvos@localline.com if you're interested, and we can work out a way to get it to you. Heh, heh...my wife would be so proud of me actually thinning the guitar herd that I'd probably get to buy another one. |
Subject: RE: Help: Anyone got an acoustic CHEAP? From: Sorcha Date: 09 May 01 - 07:06 PM I've got an acoustic Classical Global....with steel strings (VERY slack!)on it. Missing one peghead to tuner.(You can tune it, but you need pliers). Have a set of nylons to put on it,and a new peg gear, just never done it. The nut is a little high, but not too bad. I would GIVE it to you if you paid shipping. NO CASE!! Paid $3.00 US for it at a yard sale 20 years ago and it has hung on my wall since. I can't send photos e mail, but I would send them snail mail. Have you figured out Personal Messages yet? If not post here, and we'll tell you how. |
Subject: RE: Help: Anyone got an acoustic CHEAP? From: catspaw49 Date: 09 May 01 - 07:27 PM Hi Steve......Many of us here at the 'Cat have had a lot of dealings with Elderly Instruments in Lansing, Michigan. It's 50 bucks more than you mention ($150.00) but here's real decent Yamaha at a good price. If you'll go back and research Yamaha on a few of the threads here, you'll find they get great reviews in general for the price, and in some cases compare well in "blind" tests to instruments costing far more. Elderly is very reputable and I have had great success dealing with them over the phone. They are courteous and friendly and above all else, truthful! Just a thought....... Spaw |
