Subject: He's gone... From: Stevangelist Date: 10 May 01 - 01:19 PM There has been some speculation as to who I am. Some people have asked if I was once another 'Catter. It is true that I was, but MANY personal, emotional and spiritual circumstances and changes have made that former person a non-entity. I am new. A new person with no ties to the old person. Please, those of you who have asked; I request lovongly that you not ask as to the where- or why-abouts of that former 'Catter. He is gone. I love this place and do not want the spectre of an old adversary of mine rearing its ugly head. Suffice to say that this is a new place for me and there are new good times to be had and new friends to be made (over again for the first time). May The Road Rise To Meet You, Stevangelist

Subject: RE: BS: He's gone... From: Jim the Bart Date: 10 May 01 - 01:38 PM I was going to say "hi" when I saw your name for the first time in another thread, but I didn't, so I'll say it now. Hi and welcome aboard. And may the wind be always at your back. Bart |
Subject: RE: BS: He's gone... From: wysiwyg Date: 10 May 01 - 02:05 PM Steve, I applaud your desire to move forward but by introducing yourself as a new arrival you have started one-down on the credibility scale with me. And by immediately starting two threads asking for free or cheap goods from a community of people among whom you have not yet built personal friendships, you have shown us enough of the "old Steve" that I spotted you right off. You can't actually shrug off your "older selves," you know. "They" can be redeemed and transformed, it is true; but you bear responsibility for "their" actions nonetheless. Even forgiveness does not relieve one of the temporal consequences of one's actions. I would lovingly suggest (in the spirit of the friendship that I offered you in the past, until you broke off communcation) that in future you be fully honest with us here at the Mudcat. It's the safest place I've found (in this world) to practice it, and in the long run you will gain much more by that approach. I renew my welcome to the Mudcat, but be clear that it is a welcome to all you have been, are now, and yet will be. ~Susan |

Subject: RE: BS: He's gone... From: Stevangelist Date: 10 May 01 - 05:42 PM Wow... I never knew that in order to have had a change in your life, you had to spell it out for everyone. I also never knew that asking if anyone had a cheap guitar to sell amounted to being a first-class a-hole. That's what I feel as though I have been treated like. I can't simply come in and forget the old person I used to be; it seems I have to hang him out as a reminder to all that I once thought too highly of myself. I guess I'm not allowed to have any experiences that are too personal to share here. Thank you, WYSIWYG, for your oh, so warm "welcome". May The Road Rise To Meet You, Stevangelist

Subject: RE: BS: He's gone... From: Chicken Charlie Date: 10 May 01 - 05:54 PM Scuse me for soap-boxing after not having been here very long myself, but: Seems to me the first round of "Yes, you are" "No I'm not" MIGHT have been justified by some of the issues. I'm totally unready to go through this again; it's more anticlimactic than the Florida recount and has much less impact on the national scene. I think more than just Gargoyle were uncovered. Would someone please come up with a good obscure lyric or alternate tuning thread, please? Chicken Charlie

Subject: RE: BS: He's gone... From: Lonesome EJ Date: 10 May 01 - 06:10 PM A wise man once said that sometimes it's a thin line between the road rising to meet you, and realizing that you just tripped in a pothole. Welcome, Steve, who ever the heck you are, were, or will be. |
Subject: RE: BS: He's gone... From: Chicken Charlie Date: 10 May 01 - 06:18 PM Now, see I'm 'sposed to say, "I never said you were, that was somebody else, ..." and then we can go on & on forever. I'm glad you weren't if it relieves you not to have been. Since I never knew him/her/it all I'm saying is, would have been nice to start afresh, but it feels like we're just starting again. Glad my handle allows to fulfill long-term dreams; everybody should have that happen now & then. CC |

From: Peter K (Fionn) Date: 10 May 01 - 07:56 PM I'll second the motion from Lonesome, Stevangelist, and resist the temptation to comment on the motion (of the bowels) posted by our moralising, evangelising friend Sue/Praise/WYSIWYG (whoever she is, was or ever will be). |
Subject: RE: BS: He's gone... From: Helen Date: 10 May 01 - 08:04 PM Welcome back Steve. And I welcome you in the spirit of friendship and sharing which you have offered us, in returning here. Habits are rumoured to take only 40 days to change, and that includes turning over a new leaf in life. I'm getting adept at making positive changes in my life - due to circumstances as well as a desire for a better life - so I for one will be cheering you on, and not trying to remind you of what you once might have been. Subject: RE: BS: He's gone... From: KingBrilliant Date: 11 May 01 - 04:46 AM Its nice to be new, to reinvent once in a while. I didn't know about that 40 day thing, but I do believe that we change all the time & sometimes quite radically. No one is set in stone (well OK Big Ron under the M4 might be). Glad to welcome you as a new 'cat. No idea who you used to be, and I don't think it really matters. Might have been wiser not to explain yourself thereby invoking curiosity & in some cases distrust and hostility. Don't pay attention to people who don't want to let you re-start - that's a load of b*ll*cks. I hope whatever triggered your changes wasn't painful, but it sounds like you're happy with your new self - so that's nice & don't you let anyone spoil it for you. Kris |

Subject: RE: BS: He's gone... From: GUEST,khandu Date: 11 May 01 - 11:17 PM I do not give a fat rat's ass who you were; who you are today is what is important. Yesterday is gone Yes, we still must deal with the consequences of yesterday's actions, but, by God, TODAY is a NEW DAY! Stevangelist, however you choose to present yourself to the Cat is yours to do. I, and many others here, accept that and welcome you. Grace and Peace to you! khandu |
