On the ever-popular Sean O'Neil Irish compendiums, they offer the first 4 lines of a great little ditty called 'Katie Daley'. Anyone know all the worlds and anyone who has recorded it all the way through? Also, in the 1964 movie 'Zulu', they sing the Welsh National Anthem; Men of Harlach. Need the words to this, too, please. Look for me on AudioGalaxy for one of the largsest Celtic collections in existance.

'Men of Harlech' is in the DT-database (search window above).

the version in the database is not the song from the movie, however.

The set of Men of Harlech in the DT is the most commonly used English language version, though there are a number of different translations and adaptations of the Welsh original.  The words used in Zulu were written especially for the film by Ivor Emmanuel, and so are not the Welsh anthem, though they use its tune.  The text was given in this previous discussion:  Men of Harlech.

There are several versions of Katy Daley in this previous discussion:  Lyrics to Katy Daley.  Found, as ever, through the very useful "Digitrad and Forum Search" box quite prominently displayed on the main Forum page, which we do encourage people to try for themselves before starting new threads, especially when dealing with very well-known songs.  Of course, you have to bear in mind that titles and spellings -particularly of names- do vary.

The Welsh National Anthem is Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau, "Land of my Fathers", not Men of Harlech.

Both Men of Harlech and Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau are on Bryn Terfel's Deutsche Gramophon CD, "Bryn Terfel, We'll Keep a Welcome - The Welsh Album". The liner notes have lyrics in Welsh and English. They both sound better in Welsh. The English translations are stilted, to say the least. These are beyond question the best recordings that have ever been made of these songs.
