Subject: RE: BS: Yorkshire Gathering Mudlarks From: Geoff the Duck Date: 19 May 01 - 05:12 PM I'll try to get some captions done during the week. I have had to retire home early after twisting my ankle at around 3pm today. I have been to casualty, and nothing is broken. It was diagnosed as ligament damage, and the doctor told me to continue doing what I have been doing since the fall (and I don't mean Autumn in America). I said "What! Limp???". As for the beer, the "Mudcat DT's" has been absolutely excellent. Shortly before I left, Syd had to change the second barrel. We had supped two times 18 gallons, and there is only another 18 in two nine gallon barrels. It may last through part of the evening, but there will definitely not be any going to waste. We were still hoping that somebody might turn up with a laptop computer which has a working microphone socket (unlike ours, where we can listen on paltalk, but not broadcast). Tyke may have brought one with him, but I was busy being strapped up when he arrived, so we hadn't had opportunity to ask him before I was transported home. Jane has returned for the end of the ceilidh, so if she gets it sorted you will be informed on our other current thread YORKSHIRE GATHERING ONLINE. Our original plan was to finish the ceilidh at 10.00pm and get on paltalk at around 10.30pm (British Summer Time) about 5.30 ESB mudcat time. I will be watching out and hoping to be with them in spirit if no longer in person. quack With sore ankle Geoff the Duck.

Subject: RE: BS: Yorkshire Gathering Mudlarks From: roopoo Date: 20 May 01 - 04:39 AM Just to start the introductions if I may, the person in the green polo neck jumper sitting opposite Micca, and with the long hair and big hooter is me!!! The bearded guy on the left of him in the hat is Badger, and the lass in the Mudcat shirt across from me and right of Micca is Tig. The lady in the yellow shirt sitting in the corner is Mrs. Duck. The tall lad by the bar dangling beer glasses is Sam Pirt, and that's Magician on his left. Oh, and on the tables may be seen some of Val's excellent food. Behind the bar are Jason and the now very famous Syd. Andrea |

Subject: RE: BS: Yorkshire Gathering Mudlarks From: bill\sables Date: 22 May 01 - 07:36 AM I have to come clean Micca I don't have your Tankard I did have it. but I don't have it now, on the other hand I do still have the handle from your tankard but where the rest of it went is a mystery to me. I will gladly send you the handle when I get back from the USA. It's such a famous handle that I am sure Max, Bert, Rick, Ctaspaw, and the other US catters would love to see it. Bill |
Subject: RE: BS: Yorkshire Gathering Mudlarks From: Geoff the Duck Date: 22 May 01 - 08:04 AM I definitely do not have anybody's tankard, but I do have a right foot which is about 15 shades of purple, and about twice the size of my left one. |
Subject: RE: BS: Yorkshire Gathering Mudlarks From: Les from Hull Date: 22 May 01 - 08:07 AM Are we talking about a silvery metal container, holding about one Imperial pint, with a handle on one side? No, haven't seen it. |

Subject: RE: BS: Yorkshire Gathering Mudlarks From: GUEST,Roger the skiffler Date: 22 May 01 - 08:38 AM The travels (travails?) of Micca's tankard seem to be acquiring the status of a Grail Quest. Can a ballad be far behind? RtS (the only ballad I know is the Ballad of Bethnal Green!) |
Subject: RE: BS: Yorkshire Gathering Mudlarks From: Patrish(inactive) Date: 22 May 01 - 09:29 AM I thought I had Miccas' tankard - or at least bits of it. I'll bring them to the Jug tomorrow night. Someone said they had the handle, well I have a rim, perhaps we can fit all the pieces together and come up with one whole complete vessel! Patrish xx |
Subject: RE: BS: Yorkshire Gathering Mudlarks From: Bagpuss Date: 22 May 01 - 10:03 AM So, it wasn't Micca's tankard that was crushed under the wheels of my mini as I left? Someone else's? If we collect all the bits together, I'm sure the mice will fix it and put it in the shop window so that Micca can come along and find it again.... Bagpuss |
Subject: RE: BS: Yorkshire Gathering Mudlarks From: GUEST,Lanfranc at the orifice Date: 22 May 01 - 11:12 AM The poisoned pellet was in the vessel with the pestle The chalice from the palace held the brew that was true This is all a smokescreen - the tankard dissolved in consequence of having been filled with cider shandy once too often! (AND it was stainless steel, as I remember.) Sorry about the foot, Geoff, but we all had a good trip, and didn't see why you should be left out, being local and all. Also sorry you had the wrong kind of trip, an understandable mistake, under the circumstances.

Subject: RE: BS: Yorkshire Gathering Mudlarks From: Tyke Date: 22 May 01 - 08:22 PM After reading the thread from Liz the squeak could someone going to the Jug tomorrow send my apology to the Horse. I thought it was the Horse that was farting all night! So I picked up a tankard I found lying around the campsite and through it at him! Do you think it could have been…………….!!!! :-) |
Subject: RE: BS: Yorkshire Gathering Mudlarks From: roopoo Date: 23 May 01 - 02:31 AM And I thought it was merely Eggborough power station's boilers venting! Living where I do, across the road from one pub, just over the river from the Jug, and down the road from the power station, one accepts deep rumblings and roarings as part of life's rich pattern. The tankard will do nicely for a birthday present for Ian - if I can ever get the cider smell out of it. Would Domestos help? I could always use Jeyes fluid. (It works a treat on the yard where the dogs "go"!) Andrea

Subject: RE: BS: Yorkshire Gathering Mudlarks From: Les from Hull Date: 23 May 01 - 06:48 AM A funny thing happened last night. I was just dropping off to sleep and I heard this ethereal music, all harps and sopranos, and there was this sweet perfumey small, and then something slowly materialised in front of me, something that floated in mid-air on a golden tray. I couldn't exactly make out what it was, because it was covered over by a finely embroidered damask cloth, but I would estimate that it was about five or six inches high, maybe four across, and probably made from some costly silvery metal. Do you think...? Les |

If you give your tankard freedom it might stay a while... Les |

I'm new to the scene but me and my girlfriend managed to get to the Jug over the weeken ( My girlfriend Jane was with her niece Claire at the celeidh on Sat night and I'm led to beleive they entertained you with some dancing???!!)Anyway you taught them a song bout "10 constipated men i the bible" and Jane has not stopped talking bout it since. Any chance of the lyrics this would make one young (ish) lady extremely happy and gain yours truly muchas brownie points. We call in the Jug most nights for drink. I think Jezebel may already have this request in hand but if anybody could e them to me at lowerydavid@hotmail.com I would be A extremely grateful and B. delighted to buy you a pint. Thanks for all the fun and we look forward to seeing many of you at the Beverley Folk Festival. You've certainly got us hooked. Dave Lowery |
Subject: RE: BS: Yorkshire Gathering Mudlarks From: Noreen Date: 29 May 01 - 11:49 AM Hi Dave! Glad you all enjoyed the weekend, as we did. It wasn't me who sang that particular song, but I could hazard a guess who it was...and he will perhaps surface with the words at some stage. Until then, it is mentioned in a thread here: LYR/REQ: the 10 constipated men in the bible (click here) and FIVE CONSTIPATED MEN (click) is in the DT database. Noreen (email sent) |

Subject: RE: BS: Yorkshire Gathering Mudlarks From: magician Date: 01 Jun 01 - 05:29 AM the saab decided to blow up it's clutch and gearbox 15 miles from the chester [[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[ (that was ha'pennies contribution) festival so we got the nice green flag people to take us there instead of home. we arrived in style with saab on the back of a recovery vehicle with the caravan on tow. great festival as it is every year. tuesday made arrangements for the car to be picked up and repaired on the wednesday. badger got a lift to halifax from one of the bradshaw mummers and then used public transport methods to get home to pick up his car to return and reclaim tig and their gear but had to fix his car first. he wasn't able to finish it until wednesday and got back to the festival site on wednesday evening so i had to look after tig. saab is mended and runing properly now (fingers crossed). tig and badger will probablt tell you in more detail. bye for now daffydd |
Subject: RE: BS: Yorkshire Gathering Mudlarks From: Tig Date: 01 Jun 01 - 05:59 PM Yes, but Daffydd didn't add that HE abandoned me in The Royal Oak whilst he went off with the landlord (to the nearest hole-in-the-wall). Luckily there was plenty of Hook Norton to console myself with. |

Subject: RE: BS: Yorkshire Gathering Mudlarks From: Micca Date: 07 Jun 01 - 06:51 AM For lo, a plain brown box arrived in the post and when 'twas opened Golden light ( as of finest Cider in the sunlight) poured forth and in the clear Golden light was revealed the simple elegant ,silvery lines of the Grail(aka Miccas Tankard)and it has returned to its damask lined box in the sanctuary to await its refilling with the Power of the Mighty Cider,in the mystical ceremony of "going to the pub" and Festivalling,,,, What I dont understand is how it got covered in lipstick marks and little stickers, saying, Glastonbury, Frinton, Oban, Penzance, Ynys Mon, Tintagel, Grimsby, and many more, and references to festivals that I have not attended, like Chippenham and Copull, and is redolent of the aromas of strange brews. It seems to have travelled widely, unaccompanied, and been popular, I wonder if its been singing???... |

It's all coming back to me...visions of this northen loony with an evil grin peddling her "Arkwright's Instant Irrigation Clinic" around the festival - an attraction which featured a length of rubber tubing, some soapy water and a stainless steel vessel looking suspiciously like the one in those pix. i don't want to worry you Micca me old mucker, but... |
