Subject: We're waiting for the film to come From: Bugsy Date: 22 May 01 - 03:26 AM Can anyone help me with the words to this risque song of the 60's UK folk scene. The only verses I remember are:
The Kama Sutra - we did just what they said
Lady Chatterley - what a lovely love affair
Here's a forget-me-not, let me tie it in your hair.
I didn't learn a single word I didn't know already there
And We're waiting for the film to come.
The Perfumed garden was no good to me 'Cos I can only count from one to three .............................And so on. Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: We're waiting for the film to come From: GUEST,bigJ Date: 22 May 01 - 01:03 PM The song was written by Sidney Carter (Lord of the Dance) and appeared on an LP called 'Putting Out the Dustbin' (Transatlantic TRA 106) in 1962, which featured the singing of him and of Sheila Hancock the actress. I'll try and copy the words later. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: We're waiting for the film to come From: Bugsy Date: 22 May 01 - 08:26 PM Thank you IanC. I don't think that the tune to this would be the same as the one I know, as it scans differently. It's a good one though. GUEST,bigJ, that would be great if you could post the words. I'd be much obliged. CHeers

Subject: Lyr Add: WAITING FOR THE FILM TO COME (S Carter) From: GUEST,bigJ Date: 23 May 01 - 05:42 PM WAITING FOR THE FILM TO COME. Sydney Carter. From the 1962 LP 'Putting Out The Dustbin' (Transatlantic TRA 106) where it says:- 'None of the songs on this record have ever been in revue (except Waiting for the Film to Come, and that only in America)'.............'Sydney is presently occupied part-time with the National Book League, trying to think up ways of making people read more books.
Good literature, I think a lot of it,
Doctor Zhivago, everybody's heard of it,
Got Lolita, well you had to do it,
Lawrence Durell, or do you say Dur-elle,
Faber & Faber have a lot to crow about ,
Want to be a hipster then you'd better have a whack,
Lady Chatterley, what a pretty love affair, I'm waiting for the film to come. |
