Subject: Anyone know Fred Rose
From: GUEST,Mike Ireland

Hi All. I trying to get details about a Fred Rose in Colne. Lancs, Uk. He makes fantastic D whistles in blackwood etc, silver rings tunable. I was at a folk festival in Girvan (Scotland) and came across three people who had his whistles. I got some details about him but I'm after more. I want one of his whistles.

Thanks

Mike

Hi RichM. Thanks, I've already tried Chiff and Fipple, They seem to have had this question asked before with no information coming back. I'll just have to try elsewhere.

Thanks for your help.

Mike

I have a Fred Rose flute which I got about 18 months ago. His address at that time was 22 Atkinson Street, Colne, BB8 8AT, I think he's still there as he comes to our local session sometimes.

This just came through in a Dale Wisely message to rec.music.celtic, so you might want to give the Chiff and Fipple another try:

Fred doesn't have a web site yet, but he can be contacted by e-mail. His e-mail address is just about to change. This is his new address which should be working now or within the next week or so :

fredrose.whistles@virgin.net

You can also contact him on his home telephone number:

+44 (0) 1282 868554

That is a UK number, of course. I warned Fred that he may receive international enquiries and that his phone might ring at 4 in the morning, and he said he didn't mind...but of course, please try to be considerate! :-)

If you prefer to write to him in the old-fashioned way, you can address your communications to:

Fred Rose 22 Atkinson Street Colne, Lancashire BB8 8AT, England, UK.

Wow! Way cool! Mudcat comes through again. The only Fred Rose I could find at all was the Country music songwriter.

Hi Bardford.

Many thanks for the information. I'm on the Chiff and Fipple emailing list so I hope it will catch up shortly. Dale does such a good job with his site.

Your right Sorcha - Mudcat strikes again. Its funny I told someone recently that I had to go halfway round the world to get information on someone a few miles away. They laughed but I was right.

Thanks again.

Mike

I have had the pleaseure of playing with Fred in Scotland at a couple of sessions and can just say that he takes so much pride in his workmanship with his whistles and flutes. They are both fantastic products and are wonderful feats of craftsmanship......they also sound very very good. he now has a website www.fredrose.co.uk
