I want to be sure not to miss any good music in Northern Vermont this summer...I saw Banjo Dan in Derby at the Opera House last year, for example, and wouldn't want to miss him if he got close again. Other than, obviously, the Champlain festival in Burlington, are there other events that I should be making plans to get to? And are Vermonters aware of my friend Lisa Sammet's "Music Box" venue in Craftsbury? She's working hard to bring good music to the Northeast Kingdom... Dunkle

I should warn you that your friend Lisa Sammet's "Music Box" venue in Craftsbury will suffer an infestation of noisy Woodchucks on the night of July 7, unless a quarantine line is established along about Vt. Rt. 125.

Sensitive singer-songwriters throughout the northern half of the state are arranging to leave the state entirely for that weekend.

Peter.

The Ethan Allen Homestead Festival (near Burlington) on Saturday, July 14th features Vermont musicians and singers. Represented will be contra dance bands, Irish music, bluegrass, Franco-American music, Abenaki stories and music plus individual singers such as Margaret MacArthur, Helen Schneyer, me, etc..

It's all on one day from about ten AM to five or six. Music happens under tents and in the main building. Also crafts and instruments for sale. Bring a picnic since there are no food concessions.

This year's lineup and directions may be gotten by phoning the Ethan Allen Homestead Museum or maybe a Mudcatter out there can fill in the particulars.

A fine little festival not to miss.

Thanks Joan, I want to put that one on my calendar. As for the Woodchucks, I'm hoping to be safely on a boat in the middle of Joe's Pond that evening (oops, not far from Hardwick, so who knows what might happen) playing with my Tuesday evening session folks in our incarnation as Pond Tunes (yup, it's a pontoon boat)

There is a regular Tuesday evening session here in Montpelier if you play or sing, or whatever. Mostly instrumental at this time.

There's also pretty regular music here in Montpelier on Saturday evenings and sunday mornings at Capitol Grounds. Sometimes jazz, sometimes salsa, sometimes folk.

If you want more info about the session, just send a personal message. and I'll give you details.

Susan A-R
