Hi, I'm looking for the lyrics to this song, all I have is a line

'I can still recall the record on the jukebox as it turns'

there is also mention of a 'Dobro part' or similar.

I know, its a bit vague but that's what you guys are there for.

Thanks.

Hi, Green Man. No luck here.

What could be useful would be to give some more information on what style of song it is, who sang it, when. This all helps to narrow the search, and mudcatters who read it may even search elsewhere for it, and ask knowledgeable friends. At least they often do, when their noses aren't put out of joint by someone saying but that's what you guys are there for ....

Noreen

Green Man:

What side of the water are we on? There was this obscure US song called "Down at Smokey Joe's," I think, written about 1970; I doubt it ever made it out of Oregon. I'd rumage around, but if you're in Britain, I think there's little point. I don't have a problem with being here for vagueness; I just need to know if it's British or American vagueness I'm wanted for. Where did you hear this inspiring ditty??

CC

Try clicking HERE! for an MP3, if that will satisfy. And if you klik HERE! you will find a long list of swing tunes, with MIDI'S, ostensibly including Smokey's Bar. I, personally, did not have the patience to find it there. But you might give it a try.

Thanks all for your efforts, I am still looking and any help would be appreciated.

I am in UK, I get around to a few traditional singing sessions and Irish sessions and play and sing myself.

I have been trying to reconstruct this song for some time but so far no luck witha full set of words.

There is also a reference or line about 'The Dobro part to My Bleeding Heart' or something soounding similar.

Cheers guys and Gals.

Well, well... look here! (click) Looks as if this song is going to be on the new Nic Jones compilation CD, so you won't have that long to wait.
