whoa, everyone! A gal's head can get to spinning! Thanks for all the kind words.

First Larry, thank you! And I absolutely would love to record with your co-op...

Micca: I have not forgotten you! With the eviction and moving these last couple of months I have simply been too discombobulated. Sorry--I will send you a CD TODAY, friend. (Maybe it will help pass the time while your knee heals, poor sod!) BTW my June trip just ain't gonna happen but I am looking into coming in late July/August. Will you and Aud be about?

The rest of youse:

I only really have two CDs: one is a demo recorded with my most recent trio (since disbanded) called Brigid's Brood. I sing on 3 or 4 tracks. Anyone who wants a copy, let me know and I can send you one free (copied on a CD burner). All traditional tunes, "our own arrangements" based on recordings by Triona ni Dhomnail, Steelyeye Span, etc.

I also recorded a full-length CD with the group Urban Myth several years ago. Some originals, some world-beat, some Celtic. One lovely song with just me and piano, set to Yeats' poem "The Song of Wandering Aengus." Also includes my arrangement of John Barleycorn. I am not completely happy with this CD as some of the mixing (and hence, my singing) is not as well done as I might have hoped. But it's pretty nice in most respects (recorded at Blue Jay Studios in Carlisle, MA).

I only have 3 or 4 of these left and am thinking of getting a friend to burn me some copies that only contain the songs I sing on, to give to people who want one.

This is a fitting opportunity to announce I am actively seeking musicians to help me put a CD of traditional music together; and perhaps to do this at Larry's studio in NYC! (I hope Larry will agree to play, too).

Love,

Peg

Sing me up for a copy Peg!

Wandering Angus, and John Barleycorn...

You and I are much more alike then either of us probably wants to think!

When 4th Street finally gets recorded, I'll send ya a copy of ours... We can compare Barleycorns...

Clinton; my arrangement features my own tune setting (sorta combines Parting Glass with Star of the County Down) and, unfortunately, our artistic director stole a bit from John Renbourne's version (we have medieval instruments playing though so it sounds extra cool). This is the one song I really would love to remix since, as I could not be there at the mixing session, another group member chose a vocal track I HATED. Most of it is okay except the solo at the beginning; a bit strained. Oh well. nothing is perfect. But I hestitate to send this CD to anyone I am serious about recording with.

So are you saying you're not gonna share?!?
LOL!!
;-)

Our version of John Barleycorn, I'd like to think Fairport Convention and Jethro Tull would be proud of... we mix a couple of different versions... Traffic... and ummm... what's his name... Oh ya... Ron Cavanaugh (sp?)

I'm really looking forward to blowing the 4th Annual Windsor Celtic Fest away with it...

Micca: I will send you the BB demo (tracks include Ailein Duine, Searching for Lambs, Boys of Bedlam, and Turlough og O'Boyle), and a "goody" copy of the Urban Myth CD with my recommendations on which ones you might want to burn and copy...but of course listen to the whole thing and decide for yourself...

Thanks! I had not thought of that, that UK 'Cats might want one and you could be the publishing and clearing house, so to speak. Sounds great to me. Watch for them!

Dave, I wished I had known you'd be at Paddy Burke's , I don't know if I could've made it but I would've given it a hell've try. Hi Radriano, Peg's style, voice & taste would be right up you alley, you'd like her fur sur. For anyone else whose wondering about Peg's ssinging, I've sung with her, must be near going around 2 yrs now at our singing session, never once has she ever been anywhere short of tremendous. Dear Peg,

If I am right in thinking I heard you sing when I visited Paddy Burke's on a trip over to Boston about a year and a half ago (but didn't join in the circle myself), then I completely agree with everyone above.

I hope the new recording project comes to fruition.

Best regards

mooman (ex-mcmoo)

thanks moo man.

Just to be clear; the Urban Myth CD is available for purchase from www.urbanmyth.com.

The more traditional demo CD (better stuff, IMHO) is FREE to anyone who emails me (feel free to offer an exchange, etc.)

The future CD, well, I guess I will keep you spoted! :) I hope to do a full-length CD with all traditional stuff, and at least one original tune...

Peg

Thanks mooman, I'm pretty sure that was Peg you heard that night, I believe that Judy P. or maybe it was Deb C. was there also. Next time Dave give us some notice (same goes for all other catters) so those of us that aren't out & about can try to help extend a warm welcome sing. Hi Peg, I'll be good for me too, no having to go home early, Kendall's tossed in the gauntlet so times of no matter now. Barry

Peg, when I heard you sing at Barry's last November I was stunned and impressed- you'd better plan on bringing a batch of newly-burned cds to Old Songs (gee, what can I do in exchange??) Got it- I'll bring some tapes of my chorus. Next year I'm making my own cd!

I got to sit next to her while she sang at Barry's house. Lovely voice and sweet presentation. I'll echo everyone else and ask for one too.

I suggest you ask us for a donation to cover the cost of the CD and mailing or you'll go broke sending CD's to friends. Does $5.00 sound like it would cover expenses?

Well, Peg, vis-a-vis "local talent" I'm just a commuter train ride away from the NYC studio and would happily help out if you you should need simple harp or guitar, or if you would want backing/duo vocals. I can't offer my fiddle services because they are too sorry, and anyway Larry can find you somebody good! Feel free to give a holler if and when the time comes. Best, Margaret

well since so many are asking I must find a way to do this...

I do not feel right "selling" this demo CD because I am not the only person who worked on it and the group has disbanded. I am only giving it to people as a way to get going on my next recording project.

The Urban Myth CD is for sale from their website; I think it is $15 or so. I could always burn some of those tracks with the demo ones onto the same disk; but again it would not be right to "sell" it.

But if anyone wants to exchange their own CDs or tapes (Animaterra, I would love one of yours and if you give me an extra I will give one to Micca!) that's cool; or, give me some blank CDs so I can burn more.

BTW, you all may have seen it in another thread I posted, but the most recent CD from Hearthside, with Ralph Scott (Popular Halfwit) singing and Larry Otway playing, is wonderful!

Peg

Dear Peg,

If there is any technological way to do it, I'd be happy too to add a backing track on something from across the pond. I can offer guitar, mandolin, octave mandolin and even a full latin percussion setup!!!

Good luck with the project!

Those shamlessly begging: I will bring some with me to Old Songs. :)

Larry--my mistake, I had thought you played some instruments on that CD.

Scott: I am mailing you a book anyway so I can just put the BB demo CD in with it, no biggie. But if you want some of the Urban Myth CD you could get a copy from Micca...

I do not have a CD burner of my own so I have a friend helping me with this...I hope to get one soon, though...

Moo: you'd have to ask Larry about the logistics of adding a backing track...but thanks for the offer, sounds great!

thanks everyone for your complimentsd and interest and good wishes! This is inspiring me for the upcoming full-length recording project, which already has a title: "Witches and Weather"

Hi Peg:
Some members of my band can back you on the CD, the way to go about getting them up to speed on your music, send a list of what you want to record and a tape of the tunes, just a walkman casset job... My guys are real hard to get a hold of, but we only need the guitarest when you are here, can add other tracks over time...
