Subject: Folk in Bristol From: GUEST,jayohjo in Russia Date: 07 Jun 01 - 10:45 AM Well, I know I'm a bit ahead of time (not even back in the country yet!) but I'm going to uni in Bristol in October, and was just wondering if anyone can recommend any good sessions? Preferably nice and informal, and a mix of music and singing, but failing that then either kind! Cheers very much, Jayohjo in Russia XX |
Subject: RE: Folk in Bristol From: Fibula Mattock Date: 07 Jun 01 - 10:57 AM Bristol, UK? If so, I'm trying to find that out myself. I know of a session that Ella told me about in Clifton on a Monday night - I've only been once though. Basically I haven't got off my arse to find out what's going on (haven't quite had the time either). |
Subject: RE: Folk in Bristol From: Charley Noble Date: 07 Jun 01 - 02:15 PM When I was there 4 years ago we managed to drag our local guide Chez Watts to an amazing pub gathering, a dark and smokey back room where I was treated to my first live rendition of Dead Dog Cider (Srumpy). I'm sure someone can provide better directions and ones which are more up to date. Good luck! |
Subject: RE: Folk in Bristol From: Mr Red Date: 07 Jun 01 - 02:56 PM Folk Around Bristol run ceilidhs and a website they host Avon folk diary's list - also available on paper I cover that area on cresby.com and link to those sites and others. I make a point of dating my each entry other sites I know are out of date even after I mail them with corrections. the Clifton House and the Eldon both have sessions. let me know if you find any info out of date or new folkofax@cresby.com |
