I think paltalk has decided to make me upgrade.....

the little slidy mic and speaker symbols are jammed at zero.. and won't budge...........anyone else experienced this?

so I tried the upgrade and it appears to have screwed the whole thing.......... I'm just wondering if it is me or everyone?

slainte

I was forced to upgrade last Sunday in order to listen to the Utah Phillips concert. I had no trouble.

Paltalk seems fine to me so I guess it must be your installation, Alison.

Although I can't re-create the problem you initially experienced on my system, I would have thought it more likely that the cause was a problem with wav or mixer devices on your system e.g. device in use, driver not installed correctly, etc. than a problem that needed a Paltalk upgrade.

After upgrading about a week ago, things seemed pretty good. Then the last time I tried to use it, I could "chat" with text but could not recieve any audio. I tweaked my soundcard settings and all, but to no avail.
It was "suggested" by Paltalk that better reception might be had by signing on to their ISP at $19.95 a month... leading me to wonder if they are blocking audio to other ISPs in order to reel in customers. Since others seem to be still recieving, on other ISPs, I assume, it may be a progressive thing. Or then it may just be a system incompatibility. Suspicions are aroused because while once it worked, suddenly it does not.

It made me upgrade by locking my slider bars for volume control, too, Alison. So, I did, but I had a helluva time with it. Took me a couple of times fiddling with it to get it installed properly. If I remember right, I deleted the first two downloads of the upgrade, which I had gone to by clicking on their Help/Upgrade link. I think I finally went to their website and did a new one from there. It was very frustrating, but now seems to be working fine.

I got a frozen slider AFTER I upgraded. However, as I was trying to hear the U. Phillips concert, it freed up. Still couldn't get much volume though.

I've got the "Irish Trad & General Music" room up and the audio seems to be back. Have yet to test output.

I have had another play and I have found that disabling the Windows sound devices will cause the volume and record controls to freeze up in Paltalk although I do get an error message when I start Paltalk.

I had a problem the other day on Paltalk - for the first time since I've been using it. It was letting me have audio for a couple of minutes and then cuttting out. It was so frustrating, especially when I knew that people were singing beautifully. I tried four times and then gave up. *sigh*

I had some trouble with my audio after upgrading. By going into the Audio Test under File in Paltalk I was able to get the system to correct the problem. Yours, Aye. Dave

I resisted the upgrade for ages until it finally wouldn't start at all without it, loaded it up and been quite happy with it ever since, except for those damned popups that not even paraquat and the popup killer will get rid of.

I did the same as Liz and only upgdaded when I had too .... so far there has not been a problem

I have also avoided the pop-ups ... without having to pay :O)

I have netscape as a browser and apparently the pop-ups use Internet Explorer which I have on my computer but which is banned (by Zone Alarm .. firewall) from having access to the internet

The result is that the "pop-ups" can't pop up.
