I've got the tune and chorus for this song but would also like the verses , please.

Chorus goes :-

New Boots, grand and fine
New Boots , tanned and shiney
New Boots of supple leather
New boots for new weather

I will also be grateful for any information about the song.... Thanks

Got the tune and chorus from a sound clip on WWW.TUNES.COM of Frankie Armstrong singing the song although I remembered hearing it some years ago.

Now it's in my head and it won't go away :O)

The song was recorded on by Frankie on "I Heard a Woman Singing"

Crap. That didn't help much either. All I found was a place to buy the album.......Click1 but that's not much help, huh?

Well, it's mentioned in the Old Chestnuts Song Circle. The song is "New Boots," by Nancy Nicolson. I'll see if I can work up a transcription from the Frankie Armstrong CD. The CD, by the way, is terrific.
Hey, can anybody tell us anything about Nancy Nicolson/Nicholson?
-Joe Offer, going off to work on transcription-

Oh, what a nice song!
-Joe Offer-

NEW BOOTS
(Nancy Nicolson)

CHORUS
New Boots, grand and fine
New Boots, tanned and shiny
New Boots of supple leather
New boots for new weather

I see sun and spring,
But my feet are weary
Would you dance and sing
Change your boots, my dearie
CHORUS

Old boots traveled far,
Traveled far and steady;
Steady, aye, but stiff;
Too stiff for this lady
CHORUS

Old boots kept out rain
Though the streets were running
But their sturdy grain
Never let the sun in
CHORUS

Old boots may be cast,
Give them no back-glancing;
Lay them by at last,
Little do they know of dancing
CHORUS (twice)

Recorded by Frankie Armstrong on "I Heard a Woman Singing" (1998)

Please note: her name is spelled Nancy Nicolson. There is no 'h' in her name. And she is a lovely person.

Her website which she says has been a bit neglected of late is

nancynicolson.com

Olivia, I have no way to reach you, but you can reach Nancy via that address.
