Subject: Warwick Folk Festival-give me a sign From: Linda Kelly Date: 04 Jul 01 - 09:47 AM How many of us are going to Warwick? Can I suggest that along the line of the freemasons, Mudcatters will attempt to reveal themselves to other Mudcatters, not by t-shirt (beerstained after day one) but by the initiation of a secret handshake or special sign or nudging of the earlobe. This obviously does not apply to Mr Red who 'we can all spot a mile off and I do not suggest we have some macabre initiation right involving the rolling up of a trouser leg and strategic placing of an onion or something -but a special sign that only mudcatters will know....... |
Subject: RE: BS: Warwick Folk Festival From: Les from Hull Date: 04 Jul 01 - 11:05 AM Maggie and I are going to Warwick. You'll be able to recognise us, we're the ones sitting behind you in your van! |
Subject: RE: BS: Warwick Folk Festival From: English Jon Date: 04 Jul 01 - 11:07 AM You can recognise me and Jim Cheydi by the frantic use of Right arm/pint pot signalling and cheerful V signs. EJ |
Subject: RE: BS: Warwick Folk Festival From: Jim Cheydi Date: 04 Jul 01 - 11:11 AM Nothing cheerful about my V signs! |
Subject: RE: BS: Warwick Folk Festival From: nutty Date: 04 Jul 01 - 11:29 AM The banning of dogs from the campsite has caused real problems and it looks like I will miss Warwick again this year .... SOOO sad |
Subject: RE: BS: Warwick Folk Festival From: Mr Red Date: 04 Jul 01 - 03:38 PM Mudcats are not banned. For the record Mr Red can blend into the background in his back-up colours. If you can't see him at any time he may be incognito - how would you know without this secret sign? Might I suggest arms outretched and closing over each other as they entangle? |
Subject: RE: BS: Warwick Folk Festival From: Liam's Brother Date: 04 Jul 01 - 06:33 PM I'll see you all there. Please be sure to say 'hello'.
All the best, |
Subject: RE: BS: Warwick Folk Festival From: Geoff the Duck Date: 05 Jul 01 - 05:37 AM We will be missing this year as our holiday plans do not allow. We will however demonstrate the agreed secret handshake wherever we are at the time. You never know - we might make new friends that way! Quack!!!! GtD |

Subject: RE: BS: Warwick Folk Festival From: Les from Hull Date: 05 Jul 01 - 01:07 PM Well, other people are coming from New York - perhaps you could hide in their luggage! |
Subject: RE: BS: Warwick Folk Festival From: Linda Kelly Date: 18 Jul 01 - 05:45 PM Just reviving this thread in readiness for next week. I love this festival and only hope the weather improves. No doubt I shall be frequenting the Bowling Green for the singaround with the usual suspects but if your not there, and you see an orange and white VW Devon Campervan with orange seats and a grey awning -please come and say hello! |
Subject: RE: BS: Warwick Folk Festival From: Louisa Date: 19 Jul 01 - 04:44 AM I should be going as I only live down the road in Coventry. My tip for the weekend is Shkayla featuring fab fiddle player Joe O'Donnell with Martin and Ray Jenkins. Superb and great mates too. c u there Louisa |
Subject: RE: BS: Warwick Folk Festival From: Tig Date: 19 Jul 01 - 05:25 PM It's easy to find at least 3 Mudcats at Warwick - just visit Rincewynds! Me, Badger or Firecat will be manning the stall and the other two will be around at some point over the weekend. We'll start a Mudcat Sheet. Put your name on it and we'll see how many admit to being there. Last year it was a pathetic few (us and the Ducks!!) despite extra notices trying to find people. We found 15 at Alcester (including the twins) so let's see if we can do better at Warwick. |
Subject: RE: BS: Warwick Folk Festival From: GUEST,Mike Cahill Date: 20 Jul 01 - 02:53 AM we won't be there because of the no dogs rule |
Subject: RE: BS: Warwick Folk Festival From: GUEST,Lizzy Date: 20 Jul 01 - 03:13 AM We had expected our stewarding instructions from Mr Brannigan by now but these have not arrived. Have any other would-be stewards heard what their duties will be? Am I worrying unnecessarily as usual? |
Subject: RE: BS: Warwick Folk Festival From: alanww Date: 27 Jul 01 - 12:52 PM See you all there! Just setting off from Stratford-upon-Avon (10 miles only)! Swing low, sweet Chariot ... ! Wassail! |
Subject: RE: BS: Warwick Folk Festival From: Peter Kasin Date: 28 Jul 01 - 02:40 AM I noticed that The Johnson Girls will be there. You go, girls! -chanteyranger |
Subject: RE: BS: Warwick Folk Festival From: Roger in Sheffield Date: 08 Jun 02 - 04:03 AM My friend lives near(ish) to Warwick and has just asked if I would like to go So I want to know whats on, best places to go, any info at all, from people who have been before Roger |
Subject: RE: BS: Warwick Folk Festival From: Mr Red Date: 08 Jun 02 - 07:03 AM Urban Myth explodes I spoke to Dick Dixon at Chippenham and he assured me that the Castle is not paying compensation to Warwick Town or the Festival. The castle has always sponsored the festival on the basis it brings folkies in and around the castle and drags a lot more tourists with the aura that we create. He also reckoned the concerts in the castle Thur, Fri & Sun will not be loud enough to impinge on festival goers..... Well he would say that and I for one need the evidence on the day. Rod stewart (Thurs) is not quiet anywhere! so Fri morning ETA. |
Subject: RE: BS: Warwick Folk Festival From: Les from Hull Date: 08 Jun 02 - 11:58 AM Actually, Roger most of it is on the campsite - concert tent, beer tent, school hall for dancing, arts centre for other concerts, other places for workshops and stuff, good choice of food outlets. In town there's usually a bit of fringey singaround and session stuff at the Zetland and the Bowling Green (last year we had a great fun 'do' in the beer garden at the back complete with a certain South Yorkshire Scotsman of Great Girth). There's a free bus that circumnavigates the necessary places every twenty minutes. |
Subject: RE: BS: Warwick Folk Festival From: Col K Date: 08 Jun 02 - 01:28 PM Jim Brannigan is not doing the stewards rota this year so do not worry if your duties have not yet arrived. They will eventually |
Subject: RE: BS: Warwick Folk Festival From: Linda Kelly Date: 08 Jun 02 - 01:35 PM I'm booked although I have realised in my rush to get a ticket I forgot the S.A.E! Anyhoo -are you going Les -if so I need to talk about transport!!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Warwick Folk Festival From: Les from Hull Date: 08 Jun 02 - 03:32 PM Linda - Maggie and I and Chris and Shiela have all booked our tickets. At the moment all I've got is a piece of cardboard and a felt tip pen. See you tomorrow at Nellies? |
