Can anyone please help me?

Recently RTE (Irish satellite radio) switched its transmission from an analog to a digital system. I purchased a digital satellite dish and LMB as part of the update requirement.

Unfortunately I can not receive any programmes at all now and I´m completely lost. According to information from RTE, RTE Radio 1 available on Hotbird 5 at l3 degrees east serving mainland Europe. There are so many different satellites I´totally confused.

Is Hotbird perhaps a sub-carrier of Eutelsat?

Anyone out there who can lend a hand?

Thanks in advance.

JB

Guest JB-Hotbird is a separate sattalite to Eutalsat, What reciever are you using? It sounds as though your dish needs re-aligning, if you do this yourself you will need an alingment meter, try to borrow or hire one (you will only use it once).A good publication is What Satelite magazine, it gives you the frequencies and alignment figures for all the satellites at the back.I am using a Pace Digibox, RTE is channel No. 892. Just a thought, but is your reciever digital compatible? if not you may need a new one, I have heard Nokia are very good, try the magazine before you spend your money though, its only about 3 pound.

Guest JB-I have just re-read your message, you have changed only dish and LNB.If your reciever is analogue you will have to change this as well, have you cosidered listening to radio on your computer? It seems a shame spending your money on new kit if your main interst is radio.

Thanks for your ideas on this.

Yes I also purchased a new dig. receiver. It was a special set offer (all in one). I think I will try to get the WHAT Sat. magazine. I´m sure If I persevere I will get it working.

Thanks again.

JB
