Just discovered this site that offers a live performance of Cordelia's Dad from the Kennedy Center, Washington DC in June of 2000. For those of you who are interested in what these young interpreters of Appalachian and Shape Note music are up to, check out this site.

Makes a great background soundtrack for reading the latest Mudcat Forum posts!

That url expects form data from their search. This link will play the show. Here's Kennedy Center's site. Nice stuff. Thanks, LEJ.

It's a great concert, highly recommended!

I've seen that Tim Eriksen has recently released a solo album, any one heard it?

Is it worth getting? (I love Spine and Comet)

I've been going to Sacred Harp singings that Tim, Cath, & Peter have also attended & run for years. They never, ever plug their own music. I'm sure if they put up a small display to sell their CD's, they would move a lot of them. They don't. They also never plug their tours on the shape note mailing lists.

I've long admired that they don't try to take any commerical advantage from their singing associates, even those who would't mind the chance to buy. Consequently I've never gotten around to buying any of their CD's.

See their summer schedule here.

I've heard several songs from Tim Eriksen's CD on Mike Regenstreif's folk program on CKUT and was quite impressed. He seems to have gone back and really learned from the source singers and field recordings; quite rare for a young musician today.

Burke...I HIGHLY recommend Comet. Several of the best renditions I've heard of traditional ballads, especially Gypsy Davey, The Sun and Moon (variant of Edward,Edward), and the strange and unique cautionary tale The Frozen Girl.

Listened to it twice! Thanks for letting me know about it. The Sacred Harp tune (Return Again) near the ends is one of my current favorites.

Wow! I wasn't aware that they were here in D.C. last year. Very interesting sound that he gets out of his guitar. It doesn't come across on Spline.
